In my limited experience (I've never done a real BIPA) it's an advantage to add the really dark malts very late in the mash, or even just before sparging.

Ive been hesitant with honey blonde recipes that add the honey during the boil but your inflection has sold me. Also love the Chance The Rapper shirt.

Hey is it possible to do this with a starter kit lol

I'm on my third batch with a 1 gallon carboy I got from the starter kits. I've just been adding more accessories like a hop spider, auto siphon, brew bags, refractometer and stronger cleaner/sanitizers.

Great video. Maybe I missed this, but how do you know when fermentation is done while using a spunding valve?
@JusBrewing9 ай бұрын
You can use a floating hydrometer like an iSpindel, Rapt Pill, or Tilt. Other wise just like with regular fermentation you can wait a few days after your airlock is no longer bubbling 👍🏾

Sweet! I’m a lifelong FP fan. They were at the top of my must brew list when I decided to get into the hobby. Just found this video this evening. I transferred my pebbles beer to secondary the end of last week. I fry hopped and seem to have a bit of a burny aroma I’m trying to let rest out a bit. It’s my first actual beer brew. I also added tart Cherry juice, lemon and orange zest, and lemongrass to really boost those flavors. I’m sooo excited, and I kept it gluten free.

Love the video, excuse my ignorance but What was done that made this abv lower than wolf kings? I mean I see your final gravity was higher so that played a part and that made it sweeter which is nice for this brew but your start I gravity was lower why was yours around 1.04 and his was 1.06 I tried his recipe and got 1.08 so I'm trying to figure out what I did also but in reverse 😂

Does that FJDynamics Refractometer correct for alcohol content in FG? Or can it only be used pre-fermentation?
@JusBrewing9 ай бұрын
It does when it works 😅
@joshuapinter9 ай бұрын
@@JusBrewing So I did end up getting this and I'd agree, I don't think the alcohol content compensation works reliably at all. I stopped using it for that and just use it during the brew day, pre-fermentation. Still not a waste, but I'm still looking for one that can do it all (and doesn't cost $500).

I tried to do this on a cream ale and failed. My git mistake was adding an entire bag to the mash thinking it would transfer a ton of flavor over through fermentation, yep it basically all blew off with the fermentation. While I could dry hop I think I will just keg this and give it another shot with a different style, maybe a pale or blonde ale. I will certainly step feed the mash next time and dry hop as well.

Your beer sounds fantastic. I’m a big fan of the no chill, but I’ve not tried the no boil. I’d often cut my boils to 30 minutes. That seemed enough time to achieve conversion, but I’ll be trying the no boil this year.
