No matter the venue you can judge a mans experience by his comfort level as he performs the task... 15 years and Todd your comfort level is supreme as well as your vast knowledge about landscaping. I already learned enough to fix my country drive way and for that I give you credit and say thanks!

I am amazed at how much you got done by yourself! It looks amazing! Of course I love when you explain your strategy, your skills on both the skid steer and excavator..... the dump truck execution and the spreading of gravel... again all by yourself!

I really appreciate your sincerity. I use to work for a septic installer and he let me run his equipment all of the time. He is much like you...willing to teach with lots of patience. I am going to be buying my "forever" home near Payson, AZ very soon. Buy watching you, and learning, I feel like I can rent some equipment, save some money and get it done myself. Just wanted you to know that I really enjoy watching you!! Thank you for all that you do.

Hi mate, I am looking for a career change. Leaving the 9-5 office life, cant stand it. I am 21 and find machine operating the most interesting (im in Australia). I think I would really like it from watching your videos as it taps into your creative side and problem solving, while being outdoors and your own boss. I've also heard that margins can be very high for this business. What has been your experience? Is it a profitable industry to get in? I'm not 100% money driven as I need a lifestyle change, but the industry I am leaving is known for high pay and so it is still in the back of my mind the opportunity cost. Thank you mate!!!

Great job! Why don't you have the truck spread the rock and finish it with the skid steer?

Todd, how many tons of road bond does your truck hold?

Any advice on purchasing a Gehl z80 with 1500 hrs? I’ve ran Takeuchi and Link Belt most of my life so I’m not familiar with the Gehl. Price seems very reasonable so I’m kinda suspicious. Kinda know the guy selling, he maintains the equipment per manufacturer specs. Currently have the truck, trailers and skid steer just need the excavator to round out my business.

Wow! I am disappointed in how little coverage a 20 yard truck load of rock provides. I mean, I know you said you left it thick, but a load doesn’t seem to go as far as I imagined.
@DigginLife21
@DigginLife21 11 ай бұрын

@64RRussell
@64RRussell 11 ай бұрын
@@DigginLife21 how many yards of rock weighs 16 tons?
@64RRussell
@64RRussell 11 ай бұрын
I could be wrong, but I think our dump trucks have a GVW up to 40 tons. Does that sound correct? And, if so, what is the payload capacity of a 40 ton truck?
@DirtAndRocks
@DirtAndRocks 11 ай бұрын
@@64RRussell I believe that 40ton rating would include the weight of the truck. Typically a tri-axle truck in our area can carry up to 25 tons of payload because it weighs 14-15 tons empty. This assumes they are not driving onto roads where the federal bridge formula may play into it, which could knock you down as low as a 29-30 tons max including the truck (lot of math to figure that one out for your particular truck). So it really just kind of depends on the situation to determine what you can carry on a particular load. It could be a simple as not being able to use the drop axle because you cannot maneuver through the terrain with it down, so you are losing an axle's capacity right out of the gate. All gravels are a little different, but we usually figure around 1.4 tons per yard, road bond is on the heavier end because of all the fines, especially if it is wet. Best!
