You might want to weld some support on for those triangular tie down pieces. Especially if your hanging kayaks from it. Dad would be upset of his kayaks come off at 50 MPH.

Hey Matt, for your issue with the yellow plastic, try a process called "retrobrighting" which is where you use hydrogen peroxide and uv lights. I would imagine that should help you out. Some people claim that it may compromise the integrity of the plastic but noway it's worse than using that acid would be on it.

The mounts for the kayaks are actually pretty sweet. And with them being outwards it should be easier for pops to put em up. Maybe hook em up with some wing nuts or something a tad more logistical. Great idea matt

I always screw up the second bend myself , all my buddies think I’m good at running tube but truth be told I just don’t show anybody my mess-up pile out back! The lovely lunch lady hit it out of the park with chicken parm ..one of my favorites.

You can use a small torpedo level on the end of your pipe to plumb it so that your second bend is a true 90 degrees.

Making the roof rack square would have saved lots of time and also would have created a larger rack that would have covered all the existing holes! Still could have been round stock just notched and capped, not bent. But it does look good your way.

I used boat bumper rollers to help with roof loading my kayak, pvc over pipe works too

When trying to do a 'back to back' bend, measure and mark where you went the back of your bend to be, and then hold a scrap piece of pipe in your former to show you where the 'back' of the bend will be.
