So this is almost exactly what I am wanting to build out of my 72 Chevelle (I have the 2000 bravada already). Have a 09 5.3, and a welder and plasma cutter. Really I was going to do a disc brake/power steering conversion, but the frame on the Chevelle is tweaked, so I have to do something, just seemed like a cheap way to have a super fun car

Why did you cut the front body mount off the Monte frame if outside of bravada frame fits inside the g body Fram could have left the front body mount intact and cut it straight with the inside edge of the frame. Does the person who bought this car have youtube or other social media?

Why the bravada over an s10 front clip? The awd cutlass used a bravada as well and im wondering what the differences are
@thousanddollarcarguy2 жыл бұрын
It was just the transfer case that was the only reason we went with bravada. I used the manual from a s10 blazer. And the front clip and transfer case from the bravada.
@carlmartin37492 жыл бұрын
Bravada front diff is also different the 4wd diffs have a vacuum disconnect bravada awd diff does not that and transfer case are only difference between 4wd s10 and bravada awd

@Thousanddollarcarguy Do you think i can do something like that with my 87 elco. Basically just installing 87 elco shell onto something modern. So keeping interior from chassis donor as well. I was thinking like a 2014 cadillac escalade or cts-v. Which car would u think would be best to try a swap for example less fabrication work or is that just out the window with my idea? interested in any ideas
@thousanddollarcarguy6 ай бұрын
Find a chassis with similar wheelbase length and width. I would just cut out everything in my way when putting the El Camino body over the chosen frame. But I'd just cut the roof and body off the donor car and slip the El Camino over what's left. Then weld up the seams. Is much easier not to modify a proven good chassis. And modify the top car to fit it.

How did you insure the two frames were plumb with each other?

I might see in the video theres a bar under the front going side to side. Its right at the base if the trans tunnel. Thats supporting both frames up. That did a lot of it. Basically made sure the bottom of both frames were flush.

We dont really do work on other peoples cars. Its not usually worth the risk. If i could suggest. Just put the body of the monte or g body onto the chassis of the bravada. Save yourself the trouble of grafting them together.

@@thousanddollarcarguy the body of my Monte Carlo SS will fit on the chassis of a bravado ? I thought the only way was to do what u guys did cut the front of bravado and weld it to front of Monte Carlo ss frame ..Right?

@@DesTakeFlight there are many ways to accomplish a task. This was the way we went. But not necessarily the best way to achieve the end goal. We also gave up. This project was sold a year ago. To be able to complete a few other projects.

There were only 2 videos for this build. But yeah you just need the front half of the bravado and you need the rear diff so the wheels all spin the same rate

How did you get the awd transfer case too hook up without the computer?

Because that particular transfer case is all mechanical. That was the reason we went with that one.

@@thousanddollarcarguy but doesn't the awd in the front lock up or that particular transfer case out of that bravada you used was a manual one? And doesn't need a computer to control it?

@@TheStreetking1984 specific years of the bravada do not use electronic transfer cases. I believe anything 2000 and older use manual transfer cases.

@@thousanddollarcarguy so as far what you built before you had to sell it and I went with a 98 bravada the front axles shafts wont bind up or chatter going around a turn if im running a older engine in front of the awd transfer case? @thousanddollarcarguy2 жыл бұрын
@@TheStreetking1984 correct. Basically bravada front end. Change the rear end to the bravada diff so the ratios are the same coming out of stock bravada manual transfer case.
