Add hardware cloth. I also use hardware cloth on the bottom. I cover the ground with straw. Chicken wire poses no threat to raccoons, possums, weasels or any predator bigger. They will dig underneath your frame to get in. I also use a solar powered motion activated light. They do not like to be seen. It startles them and they run away. Love your video though.

Hate to be the bad news bear but your chicken wire is no match for a raccoon. The other issue is that most other predators will just enter under the 2x4 frame. Little gaps and the dirt will let most anything in. Don't ask me how I know. Your location makes it highly nessessary for a extremely fortified build.

I have a dog kennel and I just lay cattle panels along the ground on its perimeter anchored down to inhibit digging

Yes, I would have used hardware cloth. It holds up better. We have chicken wire on our run and zip ties pop off all the time and then there are gaps. Live and learn!

@@dstock5890 only zip ties I would use on something like this are the stainless steel ones and that would be expensive compared to just getting fencing wire and stitching it through the whole thing.

For security I would add more of the blocking for the door. Think of dogs, foxes and rooms pulling and pushing on the door. Think lower blocking

Don’t let your hand get too bad before you have a doctor look at it. I had a problem with my right hand that I ignored for months. I ended up having to go through a round of physical therapy and then two separate cortisone injections. I still have pain when I use it too much now. The only option I have left is surgery. I definitely don’t want that. I love your channel and your awesome family.

Love your video! I've have backyard chickens for 3 years. Only 3 hens but I got 5 chicks this year. Also buffs and 1 egger. I love my buffs! I got a buff roo on accident, lol! But he is lovely! And 1 buff hen is my lap baby. 3 months old and loves to be held and stroked! Lol! I want to use your idea for a chicken shelter for when they are out and it rains! Great idea! Can't wait to do...by myself! Your video makes me feel confident to do this!

if you look at the color patch on the chickens 'cheek', you will see what color eggs the easter eggers will lay. Chicken wire keeps chickens in, not coons out. learned that one the hard way. Might want a light in there for this cold next few days.

Your trigger finger can be resolved by a simple cutting of the surrounding sheath of the tendon. It’s done with a local anaesthetic and takes bout 10 mins.

What a fun simple project. Hope your finger is better. I did that to my thumb and when I looked online I found out it was a trigger finger, bought a thumb brace and kept it on until it healed....I think it was gone in 4-6 weeks.

That is a lot of chickens! Great job! The finger, I had the same thing on the middle finger and it was damage to the tendon. I have had to get 2 trigger finger releases (very simply surgery) over the years. Just food for thought.

Love watching the construction, why didn’t you use the hardware cloth instead of chicken wire? So much more stronger. If the raccoon can get his head through it will get in😶! ❤😮

A weasel will get in at any hole not covered with chicken wire. They will also dig under the base. If one gets in it will kill all the chickens, they need a solid coop for at night.

I'm realizing that a person could possibly put the chicken wire and hog panel pieces together and then hoop them inside the frame making it so the chicken wire is tied to the inside of the 2x4 and better secured.

Hello from just north of Aurora MO. I had some trouble with my hands "trigger finger" from throwing slick 50lbs bags at work. A few months after I changed jobs the inflammation went away and my fingers started to work again. Best wishes to all of LPO6.

Hello, I'm enjoying your videos very much and learning from them a few things, also I wanted to comment about your finger, I had that before and that is it called trigger finger, the Dr had to cut the tendon to free the finger, in time if left as it is I can be very painful to reopen that finger, hope you get well soon. this is a good size and light weight chicken coop if you instal 4 weels in there you can easily move it and you need mash for the floor too animal can come inside .

Y'all did a great job. But when doing a door stop put an angled piece on the top and bottom corner. Putting one in the middle can get in the way and you can get hung up on it.

It's called trigger finger. A simple operation will fix it. It is calcium buildup on your finger tendon. I've had 4 fingers done.

A really good chiropractor may be able to loosen your finger, or traditional Chinese medicine trained acupuncture. How did the chicken coop hold up?

Trigger finger my dude. I get the same problem while working with hand tools for long hours. It's at its worse in the morning when waking up. Unfortunately, lots of power tool work (holding onto that drill's pistol grip) also can cause the same problem. It goes away after a few weeks without treatment.

I have gripped tools for more than 40 years. 3 fingers on my right hand and 1 on my left curl like that. I got shots for my right hand on 2 of the fingers 3yrs ago. Hurt bad. Did not stay straighten. Not worth the expense.

Easiest way to kill the chicken for dinner is to just grab it around the neck and swing your arm around in circles out strait as fast as you can and just ring that neck and the head will pop right off. Then into the hot water to defeater and then degut and cook. Yum.. Y'all should get some feeder rabbits also so you can have rabbits to eat as well. Good rabbit soup in the winter. Yum

A raccoon can run through that hole plus grab and kill your chickens through that chicken wire. This not good enough in my opion
