How to Care for Salvia Sage Bush

Here I show two ways to cut down and prune back Salvia Sage bushes. They can bloom multiple times per year with correct care by pruning them back after the flowers start to dry. If you have fully grown plants that lose their shape or start to drool from being too big, you may want to cut them down fully to get a nice looking shape when it grows back.

the trimming of the salvia starts at 2.09. he does talk beforehand about how you can lop the entire bush and it will regrow!

Since I started trimming back (deadheading) my Salvias they flourish again with another set of flowers! Yay! Then I can enjoy them longer! I look for their next sets of buds coming out.

So if you cut it back after each bloom is done will you have color for the rest of the seasoj if you continue to do this???

My Salvia is spindly and the leaves start about 12” from the base. Should I go ahead and trim it to the base?

I cut my beautiful purple plant back as well and I’m so surprised that it looks like pink flowers are coming in. Is this normal?
