I live on the West Coast of Florida, and when we were kids, we would wait for low tide then jump off the seawall to catch tons of fiddler crabs. My days of jumping off seawalls have long been over though lol

Man this video is so cool, I had no idea how to catch them. I'm gonna try this in OC this summer, does the tide make a difference? Was this low tide or not in the water but in a run off marsh?
@609Fishing
@609Fishing 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you definitely need to try it out, everything eats them. I find low tide is the best time, depending on where you are tide is definitely influential. Where I was it’s not as big of a deal because there’s so much salt marsh that I can maneuver through. The only time I find it difficult to get them is when you have a flood tide and the marsh is flooded.

Great Video - How late are you able to catch them? Do you ever try keeping them alive in your basement for taug in November/December
@609Fishing
@609Fishing 2 жыл бұрын
So in New Jersey, I’ve caught them up to November. They definitely hibernate during the winter, because I rarely see them during the winter months. Unfortunately I have not found a way to preserve them for the off-season. That’s why I load up on sand fleas this time of year. They are much easier to preserve

Joe, was fun watching you catch these little fiddlers. Is it okay to catch these crabs in US? In my country, they are really super fast and very difficult to catch as most of them gets into their burrows very quickly, like in a flash :). Had to shovel it up almost a meter to barely catch one... maybe giving some pressure right next to the hole like you did might work better - I'll try it out.
@609Fishing
