How to caulk large gaps. There is a technique when it comes to filling or caulking larger gaps or cracks and i will show you how. When gaps get too large you should use a polyurethane sealant. In this video I'm using an acrylic sealant as the gap wasn't huge.

I do it a bit different. I load up empty caulk cartridges with the blue stud adhesive, let it dry and shrink then finish off with normal caulk. With my way you get an adhesive bond hidden behind the fill.

For a second there it sounded like this video is Bob Ross doing a painting :)the sound of the scraping and then the swishing liquid in a bucket and then tapping sounds :) LOL, and like Bob Ross doing a painting, and he even talked about making sure it's clean and dry (Something Bob Ross always said :) LOL its a very good instructional video :)

In my basement, there’s a wood on in the bottom and drywall around the sides on the top. Should I use wood filler first and then after that use Caulk? I’m only doing the bottom where there is a decent size gap in the corners

So if you have a large gap at the top of baseboards you need to go back the next day and see if it has dropped and shrunken in and you can put another layer on top?

Yes exactly that or you could first fill with base coat or something like that and put a layer of acrylic sealant over the top. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

Hi there, I gather the gap you're filling is about 5mm or 1/4 inch. What about 10-15mm (1/2 inch) gaps?

I need to caulk gaps between the ceiling and walls, then paint the ceiling only. How can I do this without getting the caulk on the walls (walls are a light green colour). Would you recommend painting about 1cm down the wall with the ceiling paint?

Fill as you normally would and make sure you wipe clean with a clean rag, you should be able to get the caulk looking good without having to come down on to the walls. It doesn't matter how much you vacuum or dust off there will always be some dust left under the skirting which can be blown out by the pressure of the spray. I always thought gaps getting too large would need small quads as no more gaps would shrink in!!! ? That's what I thought!!! ✌️

Yes builder should use quad around post but I suppose it would take a while to do all posts. If and when gaps are too large I use a polyurethane filler. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

There is always more then one way to do things but you don't want to make things complicated. I'm sure you can get a nice finish that way but most powder fillers won't flex enough. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe

@@howtopaintinfo hi the powder filler dosent need to flex as the foam filler eliminates movement hence causing a permanent fix it has excellent adhesion properties.... ps I love your vids on rolling emulsion most people think it's just a case of rolling it on the walls in any direction I always back roll and some people think I've sprayed it .

If I cut it too big i wouldn't be able to get it up into the gaps and also I was filling gaps that varied in size so it was a case of not to big, not to small but just right. lol Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe

Gaps like this should have backer rod and then sealant. Very unprofessional. Shows absolutely no understanding of caulking

@@howtopaintinfo you don’t understand the purpose of backer rod. It controls the sealant depth and forces it against both sides of the joint instead of just pushing it deeper when you tool it. I have never seen a sealant manufacturer that doesn’t say to use backer rod in joints this size.
