First off, we're not mechanics. If we can do this job, so can you!
Second, do this at your own risk. We can't guarantee you'll have the same results.

Appreciate the tutorial. It was a heck of a job but I got it done. It rides smooth. Breaks are very aggressive.

Great video. I have a 2011 Equinox and thinking about some DIYing. Open the brake reservoir to ease the pressing in the brake piston.

So I was waiting forever to see if he was going to use a special tool I didn't know if they use special tool to fix caliberian or not but is that white with Jim Grace that you're using to top the back of brake pads

One last thing, and the one thing most people don't do. Bed the new pads. If this is not done your pads can glaze and your brakes will not stop as good as they should. First make sure there are no cars behind you( empty parking lots are good) drive at 35-40 mph and hit the brake moderately until you get down to 5 mph. DO NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. Repeat this 10-15 times, this is called break in and bedding the pad. It transfers pad material onto the rotor which allows the brakes to stop with out a pulsating feeling. To many people say I just replaced my pads and rotor, but I must have gotten a warped rotor. Nope, you just have too much martial transfer in one stop from not needing the pads and if you look at your rotors you will see an outline of the brake pad on the rotor. All this can be avoided be taking the time to do it right.

Find the radiator drain plug, open drain plug the drain the coolant. Open the radiator cap or overflow reservoir. Allow the coolant to drain then close the drain plug and fill the system with 50% distilled water and 50% antifreeze. If the top of the engine is higher than the radiator there will be a bleed valve you will need to open to remove trapped air. Open with the engine off until only coolant comes out then close. Start the engine and allow to heat up to normal temp. Then check coolant level in the reservior and fill as needed.

The caliper pins need to be cleaned and lined each time the pads are replaced so the caliper can move freely. If the pins bind the pads can wear uneven(one pad worn a lot more than the other) Another very important thing you must do is clean or replace the metal clip which the pads slide on. when your done open each brake bleeder and let a little brake fluid to drip out to be sure there is no air in the system plus it allows for older contaminated fluid to be removed which will cause a soft pedal.

You only need to little grease on the back of the pad and only if you DO NOT HAVE SHIMS. The pads you put on already have shims so you didn't need to use the original shim. The grease is for the metal slides the pads ride on. The caliper pins ( which you did not grease should have been removed, cleaned and greased

The jack that comes with car is NOT something you should be using except for what it’s there for, quickly changing the wheel… that’s it, nothing more! -referring to you saying that it’s ok to not use a heavy duty jack… either way I guess you should be using a stand

If it were me, I’d jack it up underneath the vehicle on the actual frame and not use the jack points.

Car is working out great still. No brake issues and is driven daily to and from work. How about you make a video of how you do brakes instead of giving other people a hard time. At least I’m trying to help people.

@@CJRichvideo Hello CJ, did you have to do anything about the rotors or just replacing brake pads was good enough? How often do the rotors need to be replaced? Thanks.
