Changing the spark plugs on a #Mercedes #GLK350 is very easy to do. You can use this video to change your #ignition #coils as well if needed.
Duration:
30 to 45 minutes depending on skill level
Tools needed:
Torx 30 bit
3/8 ratchet
3/8 extension
Flathead screw driver
5/8 socket bit
A magnet
Torque wrench
Spark plugs

My wife has this vehicle and the #5 coil is bad. How do I tell which one is #5?

Passenger side front to back 1,2,3, Driver side front to back 4,5,6, So it’s your middle coil on the driver side. Personally, i would just change them all at the same time. Easy DIY and keep it running well. Please like and subscribe

My dad glk is blow out hot air and I know it’s going to cost a lot is there anyway you can instruct me what to do or how I can fix it for him? It’s getting hotter and I know it’ll be thought for him to drive around.

Why would thus be any different than any spark plug exchange? Most 5/8 has a rubber plug inside that suck uo the plug where it stays inside the socket os your missed up and missing? What with the magnet

Probably. Use whatever tools you have to get the job done.

Should probably mention this only works in the 2008-2012 GLK350 with the M272 engine. After the car was refreshed with the M276 engine in later model years, changing the plugs is much different (and more annoying)

Have both (M272 in R Class) Yes the M276 is annoying. Stupid plenum gaskets. Also OP: you owe your car some new coils. The original get weak. The Delco branded ones are OEM and the ones you want.

How often do you replace the spark plug coils and spark plugs?

Depends but I normally do it every 2 years or 20,000 miles for the plugs and 4 years/40,000 miles on the coils. If you’re throwing engine codes, then do it sooner of course. Don’t forget to like the video and consider subscribing to the channel.

Research what the lay out is on your engine. I normally change all plugs at the same time.

Heads up! Check the year of your vehicle!! This is the earlier version, NOT like a 2014 and up. The later model is a YUGE pain in the ass.

If you have my same model, it is a very doable job with basic tools from Harbor Freight or Home Depot. What are you going to do?

If you have a 2013 like mine, forget this video. It's not even close. This one looks easy. The 2013 is a bitch.

@@512TXSDIY Thank you for making me aware that the pre-2013 engine is different. I've changed a lot of plugs in my 72 years and my wife's 2013 GLK 350 was the toughest. The ones in your video looked super easy in comparison.
