Hello guys!
#AlexTheGrumpyOne here with another video for you :)
This is a video on how to check dual mass flywheel. I am showing how to see if your dual mass flywheel is serviceable / reusable or not good anymore. Please check all the steps as they are all important.
This is my Flywheel from Audi A3 2.0 TDI 2007. It will be the same on most 2.0 TDI engines.

I did my 2001 VW caravelle 2.5 tdi a number of years ago .. The DM flywheel was in as new specification .. so I fitted a new clutch plate and release bearing . an interesting in bellhousing slave cylinder and release bearing combined . . aggressive driving equals knackered DM flywheels .

I feel like I might have a problem with the flywheel in my Audi A3 2005. After some city driving there is a steady knocking sound when depressing the clutch halfway. If I continue pressing the clutch all the way down the knocking is dampened. If I try to engage first gear to drive there is a strong shudder and I have to give more gas to even be able to move the car. Once the clutch is released the car drives normally. I've ordered a nrw clutch but I'm prepared to order a flywheel as well. I'll see what it looks like with the transmission off.

same check for most dmf, also the center ring of dmf can collapse resulting in getting no gears and that's what happened to mine 1.9 tdi it was a new dmf, clutch, pressure plate and thrust bearing from luk lasted 2 weeks, sent back to luk for there boffins to look at and they found that the middle of the dmf had dropped 1mm, sent a new complete clutch set back for me and so far all is good, 👍

at that point just scrap it and slap on the conversion kit to a normal flywheel no more problems and the car is faster

There is that solution you are right. But I had a spare flywheel for one of them that was quite handy in the end.

So i have a rattle noise sometimes when i come to a stop and reduces when i press the clutch. I have my flywheel out, theres hardly any side to side play, no metal sound, but i cant turn it even 1 tooth like you did on them?

How about muddle bit. It can have and issue with the bearing. Also up and down movement.

I have som ratteling noice from flywheel when idling ..dont hear it when im in the car but under .258tkm on the clock .new clutch?

It would be probably new flywheel and Clutch yes. Does it go away when press the clutch pedal down?

Give it a try and see if when you press the clutch the noise goes away then u know u are after a flywheel and a clutch.

How do I know if my golf has solid or dual mass.?? Golf . MK4 . TDI. 130...

Mk4 is probably dual mass at that stage. U can look up the parts on Eurocarparts and they will tell u

Hi my car vibrates at idle only when engine is hot can that be flywheel thanks

Yes it can. Does it stop vibrating when u press the clutch down?

@@AlexTheGrumpyOne when I press the clutch the rattling stops but the vibration is still there it only does it when the engine is hot and at idle thanks

@abdulbeany1894 yes they are usually worse when hot. When the metal expands and etc it affects it more. I would definitely say that you are due to a flywheel and clutch
