Holy crap, no wonder my cpu fan doesnt want to spin. Its probably being completely blocked off by dust and since no air can move, the current limiting circuit probably just shuts the fan down because of the pressure needed to move air. My only issue now is getting some more thermal paste to reapply to the cpu and gpu Edit: i cleaned out my fans but also changed the thermal paste from the stock paste to some arctic silver 5 that i had lying around. I also added some motor oil to the fan axels with a cotton swab. My cpu/gpu temps went from 95c with cpu throttling and only one fan working at full load down to 79 c working at full load with both fans working. I am so glad I got over my fear and decided to do this because its actually really easy so long as you are careful and have an anti static bracelet on

yo..I just got may laptop cleaned....but the cpu fan is showing 0 rpm in predator sense ...do you fave any idea whats the problem is?
@mattakudesu4 жыл бұрын
@@rsrdubsteps752 you may need to clean the fan axle. The fans pull out easily enough once you get them exposed, just gotta be careful with the fan blades because they are thin and bend easily, but you can also bend them back. I got my fans spinning again by cleaning off the individual fan blades, the fan axle, and inside the fan motor where the axle goes. I then applied a very light but thorough film of oil to the axle, inserted it into the motor and spun it a bit to lube the motor a bit, took it out, applied another thin film of motor oil and reinstalled. Completely fixed my fan issues.

After undevoltting and replacing my thermal paste with some kyronaut, I was pretty much hopeless with my predator and thought I was stuck with a pretty shitty laptop that thermal throttles even when idle. Games on the lowest of the low settings caused 96 C temps. DONT LOSE HOPE THOUGH!! It turned out that fans were just filled with so much dust and could barely blow air out. After cleaning the fans, temps were reduced and NO MORE THERMAL THROTTLING and fps drops. I can finally play my fave games on high specs for as long as I want at just 70-80 C (FROM FREAKING 98). I also read on an acer forum to ALWAYS leave your fan on high to reduce temps but just DONT! Leaving them on high can wear out the grease and will only cause temps to rise later on. Although the predator is a good gaming laptop it is still a high maintinance one though, so get it cleaned every 3 months or so.

Do I have to change termal past when doing this? Will I have some issues if I wouldn't?
@hemzigaming4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the condition of paste on GPU and CPU Advisable: Do it coz you will have to go through the same trouble of opening it again in future for repasting

great video thank you very much! I have a question about the cooling system ... do you think the air runs through the cooling system because of those tubes or the fans only cool the metal?
@hemzigaming3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know job of heat sink is to collect heat from CPU and GPU and fan is responsible for cooling down the heat sink assembly by flowing clean air through heated vents

How termal pads got all the dirt there :)). I'm having my laptop for about 3 years now and when I've cleaned it every time I didn't get more than some dust on the fans blades... But my laptop stays only on a table + cooling pad. How you treat your things.. You'll have them like that

I can't remove the silver screws on the fan so basically I'm screwed

Hi, I have this laptop. My CPU fan will not spin. I can hear it constantly trying to but never actually starting. I opened up the laptop and while the GPU fan spins freely the CPU one is hard to move. I sprayed it a lot with compressed air but had no effect. I did not do the full tear down like you did because I have no thermal paste. Do you know what may have caused this fan to seize up? Should I just send it ACER to fix it?
@hemzigaming5 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry to hear that, chances are you might have broke the wire, but before that check if both the fan plugs are inserted properly if nothing works out, take it to acer technician.

3:08 i wonder what my 3 years of dirt would look like daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn Update: not as much as in the video but still I got about 15 C less in both gpu and cpu and the fans makes less noise now.

And while putting the components back....did u reapply the thermal paste or just put everything back as it was.?

After removing the battery should I press the power button for like 10-15 seconds to remove residual charge? Or should i directly start after removing battery?

Do you need to do a repaste after removing the fans or just put it back in?
@see7e3 жыл бұрын
@@junel09100 not necessarily but since I already have a thermal paste I did change it.
