Why would a person who has already removed numerous screws be reluctant to unscrew just one more to take off the fan and thoroughly clean it?
@TechInsomnia6 ай бұрын
Who said I was reluctant to do so? This video was about the importance of cleaning and how to do it. Most times I will remove the fan depending on the amount of dust and how dirty the fan blades/housing is. Appreciate your comment and support my friend. 🙏

For some devices such as legion 5, you can't remove the fan without removing the whole heatsink. Which also means you have to repaste and that's a hassle when u just want to clean the fan

What tools are needed to clean the fan? Like some alcohol or any lotion? Also should i detach my battery before cleaning?
@TechInsomnia Жыл бұрын
Micro Vacuum Attachments and a good vacuum with decent suction. You can even remove the fan to clean it from both sides with the bristle attachment if it's easy to do on your specific laptop and you don't have to remove the motherboard in order to do so. No liquids needed my friend. Just make sure to hold the fan blades while cleaning so they don't move around to much because on some/most fans that can hurt the fan motor. 🙏 Hope this helps 🤞
@FennecTECH6 ай бұрын
It’s not as much hurting the motor as turning the motor into a generator and frying the motherboard

Hey man! I dont have any dust blower or device like that. Is it safe to clean off dust from the fans using a basic toothbrush or ear wax brush ? please tell me
@TechInsomnia Жыл бұрын
It is as long as you hold the fan blades from moving around too much as you do it but you may just move dust and particles around using that method rather than removing them. 🤞

How often do we need to clean our laptop fan.. i have an Asus vivobokm pro 15 dual fan.. I've bought it last year December. Is it time to clean it now?
@TechInsomnia8 ай бұрын
I would try to look into your air vents with a strong flash light carefully to see if you see dust in there. If you do then might be time for a cleaning. Otherwise I'd say once a year depending on your work environment and how much you use the computer of course. If clean and mostly at home, then once every two years. You have to kind of feel it out. If you think you should and the computer is important to you, do it. Hope this helps my friend. 🙏

Can usb vacuum cleaner damage the laptop if we use it to clean the inside of it? Like after opening it especially fans, vents and stuff?
@TechInsomnia Жыл бұрын
As long as you're careful and insure that the fan blades are held while cleaning and not allowed to move around while vacuuming you will be fine. I've been cleaning computers for years with this method using micro vacuum attachments and it's always produced great results my friend. 🙏

I'm going to make a video on this soon. 10 years is a long time tho my friend. You may need to have someone open it for you for cleaning and change the thermal compound while open. For now use a brush attachment for the vacuum and while the computer is off try to vacuum all the vents around the sides and bottom of the computer. While this might not be the best fix, it should help a bit if your vents are currently clogged. 🙏

Try limiting start up apps if you can. I like to turn everything but the security center notification icon off when possible. Also try turning off "Fast Startup" so that way every time you reboot the RAM cache is fully cleared. What OS and programs are you running my friend?

Hey I just stumbled upon this tip very late, and yes I can say I should’ve been more safe then sorry. I recently cleaned my laptop fans without holding it in place and I might’ve hurt the overall performance of my pc by damaging the motors but I’m really not sure how to fix these issues sadly. So I was wondering if you knew what I could do? To either fix or replace these fans?
@TechInsomnia Жыл бұрын
It happens to the best of use sometimes my friend. 🙏 What make and model computer do you have? There has been a time or two when I was able to apply a drop of oil to the spindle of the fan and then prime it by spinning the fan the right way for a bit using a pry tool while the computer was off and problem solved. It's only worked for me 3/10 times (when the fan had some life/movement to it) and the other 7 I had to replace the fan. Most times I've gotten the computer and the fan is just dead so not a lot of use to try but I feel like it's always good to try because you have to open the computer to get to the fan anyway and you can't hurt it anymore if it's already DOA. 💯

A blower will do more than that
@TechInsomnia5 ай бұрын
Only thing that I don’t like about a blower is that more times it will just move dust and particles around and push them deep underneath the board. Always found vacuuming with micro attachments just a better job in my experience.
