How to CLEAN YOUR CAMERA SENSOR safely at home.
Having been mainly photographing Landscapes lately, I have noticed that my sensors are all pretty dirty!
In this video I show you how easy it is to clean your DSLR sensor at home.

Glad you found it interesting. I did forget to mention however that it’s vital the we check the battery is fully charged, to keep the mirror powered up!

Great Video Mark have always done mine myself with blower and swabs but never used the brush don't think I would be "Brave" enough!!

Thanks Chris. Yes, I usually go straight in with the swab to be honest. Just thought I'd show the brush option too. My brush isn't the best one out there, you can get white nylon brush that is a better shape to suit the sensor.

Mark Kerton maybe a dumb question - but for the second cleaning was that with a fresh swab or did you re-wet and re-use the first one?

Mark Kerton well you did mention on the possibility of a third cleaning with a fresh swab.. but assumed the same for the second? All good!

That streak is strange! But it went whatever it was. I bought the Eyelead cleaning tool a couple of years ago - no fluid, just a tacky swab that removes dust. Your method works well though!

Hi Pete. Yes, that streak was strange, got me worries! So glad it disappeared. Could have been a bit of oil that I smeared with the brush perhaps?! The tacky swab sounds a good idea too.

Hi Mark, hope you're well. I think your videos are extremely helpful to be honest and very well presented. My question is regarding the dry brush that you used. Is this as good as the very expensive 'sensor brushes' for loads of money? I would think you've tried them so what's your thoughts? Cheers Dave

Thanks for watching David. I found these sensor wipe kits to be very good. If I can avoid using the brush I will. Just too touch the sensor as little as possible👍🏻

Hi Mark. Great video, particularly for those just getting into photography. Just wondering how frequently you clean other parts of your equipment, and what parts? Any tips for spotting lense muck? Many thanks.

Thanks Rob, appreciate that. I’m always having a quick check on general maintenance etc, glass cleaning and screws mainly. Just hold the lens up to the light and check for fungus really👍🏻

Thanks, but your last showing of the visual spots, the slider wasn’t even close to set to where the other test was done at. I would’ve loved to see the true results to see if this really worked.

I filmed this in Covid so I can’t quite remember the edit, will have a check but sure I definitely wouldn’t have cheated. It definitely worked, a bit delicate but easy enough to achieve👍🏻 Thanks for watching

Hi Mark - Both my 1DX Mk 2’s are a nightmare to keep clean. Oil splatter from the mirror box onto the sensor is a common issue. It’s even is a problem on the Mk 3’s apparently. It’s not obvious on wide open 2.8 apertures, shooting sports but as soon as I use the 1DX for landscapes, my photos look like Spotted Dick !!

That's interesting. My older cameras - 1D mkiii and 5Dii - were dreadful for dust on sensor. But the 1DX is much better. My 5Dmkiii is great with only occasional spots - maybe it's got better dust cleaning in-camera.

Hi Mark was looking to clean Sensor and after chatting to my mate Shaun he told me to watch your video on how to do it, clicked on link for the FULL FRAME SENSOR CLEANING KIT and they don't seem to do that one anymore, which others would you recommend? As seem to be loads!
