Last step, be prepared to endure a tirade from girlfriend and/or wife about how you need to be more considerate and that you don't notice what *she* does every day to keep the house clean and make meals and take care of your daughter, and instead of just nodding empathetically, saying "you're right hon - I apologize" make it worse by pointing out that you work every day so she can be home with your daughter and you're tired and sometimes you should just ignore these little things that don't mean anything and maybe try complaining less about bullshit, Susan, at which point you will realize you should have just STFU and apologized so you'd be past it but then she'll declare (loudly) that, HEY, I f**king work hard too, Wes - I don't GET any breaks, and now you're dumping your stupid CAR OIL in the BATHROOM SINK, where MINDY is supposed to BRUSH HER TEETH, and I'm about TIRED OF YOUR BULLSHIT, WES!!! At which point, relocate your sleep area to the couch in the den for a few nights.

I've had mine for 7 years and have always used hot water. I also use coil cleaner with a degreaser comes out like new....

I think you have the dry flow one, doesn’t need oil. Check if it says do not apply oil on the plastic edge.

I appreciate that info, I didn't know they made any that are supposed to be dry. I'll check it out the next time I drive it

No, that's a cotton filter with the mesh support - it gets oiled

Not very red, it's still very stained. But in person, you can see red. On camera....It's blacker than the blackest black times infinity

It's not clean properly, you have to apply water from front side too

The instructions from K&N specifically say not to apply water from the front side. Only the back side

STEP 3 - RINSE YOUR FILTER WITH LOW PRESSURE WATER Rinse your air filter with cool low-pressure water from the clean side out in order to flush the dirt out of the filter. Seems like you didn't properly flushed the dirt, clean from the back,no problem,but clean it till the dirt flushes out completely. After cleaning, it shouldn't look black in color. I have a k&n filter too,trust me. I have done it 5 times..

@@utk7393 Dirty air particles are not meant to be pushed through the filter. That is why backflow washing is done.

@@utk7393 the clean side is the inside, not the outside. Dirt is sucked in from the outside and the filter prevents it from coming inside. That is the point of the filter. Do not spray water directly on the outside.

Never run water over the intake side of any filter if you can avoid it. Not just cars
