Hello and thank you for this tutorial! Regarding the power supply, which amperage do you use and advise me? Thank you in advance !

Its best to keep the voltage at 24v. The display needs full current to correctly flip all the dots.

I recognise that! That's the Stagecoach Eastbourne destination database! Did you get that this from an Eastbourne bus out of interest? :-) Really cool to see this as I live very near to Eastbourne :-)

Haha nice! :) I had no idea which bus they came from, I imported them from UK to US :)

+bratan007 That's cool!! Quite a coincidence that really :-) When did you import this over out of interest and I could try and figure out which bus it could be from.... :-)

+bratan007 really?! Ahh cool!! Where did you buy them from out of interest, I've been wanting to get my hands on one for ages haha :-)

eBay. They were in pretty bad shape so I spent a lot of time repairing/restoring them..

Where can I find the same connector to connect the display?
@Tore_Lund5 жыл бұрын
So how do you get your hands on one of those??? I remember all buses in my country using these in the 90' Now they are all amber LED displays! So I presume they are in a warehouse somewhere collecting dust? Also, the serial RS232 or RS485 9 pin connector on the front of the controller box is for reprogramming messages. However is it possible to drive the display directly through this port, with something like AT commands???

Ebay has a few

Is that a standard RS232 port on the front of the Deric+ controller ?
@madeinbasement3 жыл бұрын
RS485
@RomanBellic Жыл бұрын
It’s RS232 on the front for updating the destination database and RS485 for the communication between the controller and the destination screens

I just noticed something. Can you lit up the entire display and try to figure out what's that display showed most by how discolored particular dots are? Something like CRT burn-in, lol

Welcome! Can you help me? It would be very important. I also have one such Hanover Display Flipdot display with 128x16 pixels but I don't have a controller for it. I would like to rewrite the EEPROM Chip with a very dear friend of mine so I can use the display at home. My question is, is the EEPROM IC the small one on which STD V1.2G 15E7405 Version number is written? Because that small IC is removable. Thank you very much for your help.

I'm sorry I don't know anything about that chip. You don't need a controller as you should be able to control it with USB-RS485 dongle and either Raspberry Pi or Arduino or even PC. You can find Python library here: github.com/lensdigital/flipdot/tree/main/hanover_flipdot

Welcome! Can you help me? Today I received 2 similar Hanover Display type flipdot displays. But I don't have a controller yet. How can I get the display on your test? As well as from a PC, how can I control it? Thank you very much in advance for your help.

I finally uploaded copy of Python library to Github: github.com/lensdigital/flipdot/tree/main/hanover_flipdot Use it with RS485 USB dongle

Hi. Good video. I want to ask you if you can help me. Do you have "helen" software for Hanover Display? I would be very grateful to you if you could share it with me.
