I’ve been golfing less than a year and hit very few shots the way I want to. My philosophy the entire round is that I’m not good enough to get upset over anything. I remind myself I’m very fortunate to be a member at a club, eating a brisket sandwich with a cocktail in my hand and a buddy by my side on a beautiful course. There are folks out there that can’t spend 5 hours outside in nature working at getting better at something simply for the sake of getting better at it. Nothing bothers me out there because im not good enough to have any expectations. Golf is supposed to be enjoyable, why pay all that money and spend all that time to be frustrated

Same goes for life, definitely doesn’t always work out the way we want but gratitude and positive thinking goes a long way

A lot of people create false positivity to themselves. I know I’m working in accepting thoughts and letting them pass rather than creating a fake positive moment. Which, like you said, allow more negative thoughts.

Thats really good advice but i usually get pissed on the 1st tee because i usually rocket my drive about 4 miles deep into the woods lol

😅 I stopped using a driver on the first tee for that same reason. I usually start off with an iron or a hybrid that I can control. Driver only comes out when I'm fully warmed up and I remind myself to hit it fair, not far.

Can we get a club recommendation for beginners, amateurs, and pros for instance what a beginner should have in their bag and so on, along with tips on gripping & swings for driving not to just add distance but tips for more control with the club and more consistent drives

The best advice I can give is to second what he said about taking the time to look around at the golf course, appreciate nature and being out there golfing. As you're doing that, take deep breaths as well. 4 seconds in, 8 seconds out. Slow things down as much as you can.

also, one thing to remember: no one cares how you play, what clubs you play, what your swing looks like, if the ball flies high and draws or if barely gets off the ground and runs for 30 yrds. think of all the times you were paired with random people. how many times do they hit bad shots? you dont care about their game, its not like you all of a sudden are invested in their game. same goes the other way, no one cares how you play. and if they do, they are idiots

Once we understand that being nervous and being excited are physiologically the same and only the mental framing differs, golf (and life) is so much more fun; What you tell yourself in the moment is what matters.

Brad, I’ve been struggling to get the ball out of the rough when I don’t hit the fairway, always almost forces me to get up and down. How can you make GIR’s out of the rough or get more distance when it just feels like the rough grabs my club face and stops it? I think it may be a lack of compression/“hitting down on it” almost like i need to hit a pincher and stop the club at impact

Relax a lot of bad shots come from extra tension in the grip I sing a song in my head
