In this video we will take a look into how to quickly create holograms in Blender, from PNG images, suitable for Sci-Fi or Cyberpunk scenes!

Dude you are a godsend! I am creating a cyberpunk scene and my hologram shader is way too complicated, especially with the horizontal lines being a texture I had to make in photoshop, I did not know that I can use the wave texture for that. Now thanks to you I can make it simpler and more procedural, except for the main hologram texture of course. Thanks dude!

@@ricguimm I reckon this can be easily implemented in live action vfx like you would with After Effects, if so it would make for a much cheaper effect.

This is really helpful but I am not getting good results with 3d Models. Can you tell me if this material should be directly applied to the model or are there any extra steps involved?

​@@ricguimm Okaay, so I tried it and 2 problems occurred, first is, the square is still displayed and not only the text in the square :/ Also, my wave texture doesn't allow to put X Y or Z direction... I'm using the last Blender version at the moment, do you have any solutions?

Forgot about the first issue :`) I put a texture from KIT OPS folder instead a FREE SAMPLES one

Another problem, the rectangle was still visible because of a bit of black, I removed that by clicking in the bottom rectangle in the first ColorRamp, then V set on 0.013 Hope it helps if someone get the same issue, seems to be a good solution for me

Would you make it look animated by having multiple different "holograms" moving on a plane?

There are a couple of ways to do that! One of them is to create a noise modifier on your graph, other would be to create keyframes with different intensities (either on the wave texture node or the noise texture node). I can make a tutorial about it in the future! Thanks!

@@ricguimm yeah weapon sight laser would be cool, I was trying to tackle like an Arial scifi Drone scanning things , I was gona use a mesh with a wire frame and emission, but wanna see if you got better methods to go about it, thanks again

Awesome tutorial! I made a Hologramm but it only appears to be sharp infront of my building.. When there is nothing behind it, for example in the sky, it is just blurry.. Maybe you know why? :D Thx!

It's only in EEVEE and when depth of field is enabled :)

@@ricguimm Mhh not yet, using cycles at the moment..It seems that somehow the blur of the background (using volumetrics) gets overlayed the nearer object, the hologram.

It kinda does, but it's not optimized to it. I'm currently working on a shader that (potentially will) work for any 3d model!
