The problem is a Hindu does not belief in any standard central religious dogma. My beliefs of god may be completely different from my parents but I will remain as good Hindu as my parents. A Hindu can be a atheist, agnostic, polytheist, monotheist, and even pantheistic. There is no central doctrine or dogma in Hindu tradition, which binds a Hindu into a particular belief system. Hindu traditions encourage personal seeking of truth/god. Personal experience of god/truth is the most important in life. Hindus belief there can be numerous ways to seek and experience the god. If you are a seeker then, your belief will change with the (Karma) experience of the world and time(Samsara). Unlike the three Abrahamic religions, Hindus are seeker of God , not believers of god. Hence a person’s belief is not at all important

That is very true! I like how you point out the difference between seeker and believer. I will have to ponder that further.

Thank You for all your videos. I am still very new to hinduism. I have always felt unconnected to other religions. In the last couple of months I had been struggling to find my inner peace and happiness. I actually took a quiz that asks many questions about how you believe and feel about things in life and it takes your answer and gives you what religions or ways of life you most relate to. Hinduism came up as most like what I believe. From there I have been reading and researching all there is to know about Hinduism. I am not sure that I know enough yet to be considered Hindu. However, I feel closer to my inner peace than I ever have before. I still have so many questions. So thank you again!

with due respect to you, first of all Hinduism is not a religion. its a way of life. when you say '' I am not sure that I know enough yet to be considered Hindu. '' i'd say just believe it, that you are a Hindu then you'll be a Hindu:). No need to conversion or something like that. only way to become a Hindu is believe you are a Hindu.

I would like you to make videos about teachings of hinduism like explain shlokas or quotes from Geeta just in general because it's a great guide to life and it will be helpful not just to hindus but also to the people of other faiths.

let me coat vivakananda. if you have faith in all the three hundred and thirty millions of your mythological gods. and still have no faith in yourself, there is no salvation for you. have faith in yourselves, and stand up on that Faith and be strong that is what we need. it's not about your religion its about how u Persue it.

One more point to add, where Christian try to attract people to their church. I had a incident where the women claim to atheist and then realized Christ is savior. She try to convince me to come to her church. I simply said accepted her invite and not to argue. It is always better to stay quite if someone is try to convert.

“Right from the beginning, in Rgvedic times, elaborate steps were taken to ensure the exact reproduction of the words of the ancient poets. As a result, the Rgveda still has the exact same wording in such distant regions as Kashmir, Kerala and Orissa, and even the long-extinct musical accents have been preserved. VEDIC TRANSMISSION IS THUS SUPERIOR to that of the Hebrew or Greek Bible, or the Greek, Latin and Chinese classics. We are actually regard present day Rgveda recitation as a tape recording of what was first composed and recited.” Michael Witzel, ‘Rgvedic History: Poets, Chieftains and Polities’ (NB Witzel is HATED in India so he is NOT a Hindu apologist)
@virochanaasura8521
@virochanaasura8521 7 жыл бұрын
It is not my comment, it is the comment of Witzel and reflects the consensus of higher textual criticism of the text of the Rig Veda. That text is more reliable than the Bible. Thus, there is a basis for comparison, historical criticism, and thus your analogy does not hold.

Advaitans, which is my branch of Hinduism, have been accused of being on the aethistic side. So with that in mind, I do think that religion and belief in God is a stepping stone and not the final destination. I have a ton of respect for atheists. I think many of them have souls that have grown beyond the need for a concept of God to cling to. Not all of us are there yet! I think there is a "safety blanket" element to worship of God or Gods. That's not a bad thing in and of itself. But I don't like when people worship God because of a threat like "you'll go to hell if you don't." What use is a petty and vindictive God who will punish someone for eternity?

Today being atheist is not just being atheist , now a days atheist just putting their bullshit thoughts on people , making people disbelief of Shiva (i dont like "god"). Indirectly they are saying we are only correct , politically they are saying we are greater than you . Just like islam and Christianity our way is only way , then be on your way ,dont spread bs Well thanks Ambaa ji

Ambaa, I've enjoyed listening to you. Although, I must confess when ones faith is called to task , as you did, it makes one uncomfortable. I'm a Christian and I was interested in your comment that you were raise in a cult or was in a cult something like this you said? I looked at you blog and you were raised in the Unitarian Universal Church. Not usually labeled a cult from a liberal point of view. Was there other religious history you had? In addition you mentioned you really dislike proselytizing. I would agree. Would you agree there is a very unique difference between someone using various means up to forced coercion ,which proselytizing would fit into, and evangelizing which would simply be sharing ones faith with the minimum hope of understanding each other and building a possibly relationship to explore each other's convictions?

Hey, I think Islam has not been altered.that is why new modern people find it difficult to adjust.ex: in Gita starting it is told if you read the sentence of Gita it is equal to dipping in Ganga river. As per the present scenario, it is not true.Earlier Ganga used to have medicinal features in water as it flowed through jungles etc.But human intervention made it impure Also Gita does not tell this is the only thing that you need to follow.or it will not tell if you do not do this you will not become Hindu.We can t take a sentence and give explanation .But other religions mostly believe that is the only truth and their book.They (Not all)follow the pattern what was following in old century and keep justifying it instead of avoiding it, Gita has not been altered but some portions does not make sense with new life. so forget it and still be a Hindu .Ex:in earlier times there was Sati and wife jump to fire when husband died .social reformer Raja ram mohan Roy abolished it and corrected it. so Hinduism adjusted (or a part of Hinduism) adjusted. but still in Quran it says kill the disbelievers -think the relevance of it today ? People will ask why kill others if someone has different thought

Jayasankar Nair .sati was not a part of hinduism. hinduism not support the 'sati'. it was the requirement of society. when muslim attackers kills the mens, the wives of hindu enters themselves in fire to save from muslims.

Dear Didi Namste this is Satish from India . I like your videos and the way you present your faith but when you speak about shree Krishna or an any other our gods you don't add "shree" or" ji" before or after the name. In our Indian culture we add shree or ji before those who we worship like Ganesh ji, Krishna ji, Shiv ji . I spotted you taking names of shree Krishna many time without "shree" or ji. This is only part I didn't like but everybody has his or her own way to show their faith. Namste and Jai shree Ram

So are you a Hare Krishna? The Hare Krishnas are converting people and I have seen them spreading their religion through handing out cards, dancing on the streets, and serving free vegetarian food on the streets. I’ve met some and they push their religion ideologies onto others! So I disagree with you! It’s not only exclusively ppl of the Abrahamic religions that preach!
