How to Depressurize Gaggia Carezza, Gaggia Prestige and Saeco Pressurized espresso machines

I feel like something important is being said, but without any sound it's impossible to tell! Hopefully it isn't "DON'T TOUCH THIS BIT OR YOUR MACHINE WILL EXPLODE"...

Hello, the manual says cleaning AN EASY PROCEDURE? For a start I got the redlight come on not as you the white one? I put in fluid then followed as instructed. The red light remained on. I went thru' the procedure for a 2nd time. this time half way thru' the red light went out and the white light flashed on/off about halfway thru the procedure. However as I continued it went out and the red light came on again. After I tried comple procedure the 2nd time red light is on all the time as when I started. It is far too complicated for words. I will never buy a Gaggia again.

Hahaha sorry for the delay everyone! Only 4 years late 😂. Yes I did it and it was a lot better. After another 2 years I eventually replaced it with a Gaggia Classic pro as the pressure isn't amazing in the Carezza. Ultimately I'd still recommend doing it though. 👍

@@noisyshaun Thanks for the update. Just bought a Carezza Deluxe second hand for £30/$40 with the main unit working fine, but the pressurized portafilter valve was worn out. 4 years with no cleaning... I'll put it all back together tomorrow without the pressurizing gubins and try and pull a proper shot!

carezza or viva series is better for flavour and extraction, but lacks any programmability. carezza and viva have single boiler with heated brew group, dedica is thermoblock with an unheated brew group.

@@stevenbarta6638 No shit. 😀 Of course it might be in Italian or a language we can't understand. TBH, the machine was designed a certain way and I'm not sure what the purpose of depressurizing it is. I do recommend you disassemble that portafilter once in a while and clean in there. I opened mine up after a year of moderate use and it was nasty. Cleaned it with a qtip and some vinegar.

I tried this since i had a spare portafilter. No crema at all after I did it. Just strong black coffee. It's also really difficult to put it back together. Spring won't catch.

@@welcomethechase I use a dose of 18 grams and extract about 36 grams but I found that this machine requires a finer grind than normal to achieve a good crema. A temp with normal pressure should do just fine.
