I know sage says you should use their own descaler, but have you successfully used any standard brands that dont cost an arm and a leg?

You mentioned entering the water hardness information into the machine. How does one do this ? Not sure if this is possible on this model.

Kev, can you ignore the descale or flush icons and use the machine temporarily? Like, say it is 6am and you want a coffee before work. Can You just make you coffee then come home and flush/descale later? I ask because I have a bambino plus and while there are videos saying that you can do a one-time skip by pressing buttons in a particular order, it doesn't work, and it is annoying. I know I am not the only one who has this issue as there are dozens of people on reddit who it doesn't work for. Interestingly, I can skip descale but not the cleaning cycle. Luckily, I get up early enough that 4 minutes isn't the end of the world, but it does it at the most inconvenient times. Like, I have already ground my coffee and flushed the group to heat up the portafilter, then blinky blink...lol.

Hi. I've tried to descale my coffee machine for the first time after 6 months of having it. It does the d3 descaling part but then stops and goes back to the normal menu option. I tried descaling it again but it just shoots out a bit of water and then stops again? Any idea what to do?

Over filling at the beginning means the solution is less concentrated than ideal, and the rinse is not a rinse, but I’m sure you did this deliberately to generate comments.

I didn't over fill, I filled it to where I think the descale line should actually be, just above the descale line so that it uses all of the descale solution without asking for a refill during the descale phase, i.e. so it works the way I think it's supposed to work. It's actually the opposite of what you're suggesting. If you fill it exactly to the fill line, you have to add more water to complete the descale process, and if you do what the machine instructs, and refill the tank when instructed, then you'll be doing the latter part of the descale with an extra diluted solution, and I'd imagine many peope wouldn't think to refill the water tank again either when it comes to the rinse, and this would lead to the rinse not being a rinse.
