"Connection leads to Community and Culture." - Todd Durkin
I just got back from 3 incredible days at a Master Trainer Retreat where I was able to spend some time with my fellow Master Trainers and the entire Beachbody LIVE Team. There was a lot of laughter, inspiration, personal reflection, education, growth... and fun.
One of my big takeaways that I want to pay forward is how CONNECTION is the KEY to GROWING your classes. A classes doesn't CONSISTENTLY grow over time without someone putting in the time and effort to CONNECT... so here are three great ways to connect with your class this week!
1- Learn 2 new names at class this week
2- Highlight 1 student who is working to their own level and OWNING it!
3- REMINDER people it's about being part of something bigger.
It's not me as the instructor, or even just one person - it's the group, the team, the fact that we come from all walks of life to join up for a common cause... even if that sounds cheesy. People FIGHT THROUGH SNOW STORMS to take your class when they feel connected to the bigger picture, they can work to their own level AND you have a personal name to call them!
POST YOUR 2 new names below, the student you highlighted for working to their own level, and how you remind students that it is about being part of something bigger!
And then Subscribe to the channel.
Thanks for Watching,

This is great. It is better than an instructor saying "I wish I had your energy"

I will be certifying for Zumba Instructor later this month. The things you spoke about in this video are things that have been in the back of my mind since I started taking these classes last April; and I wasn’t even aware! I am 62, have had 2 hip replacements, had not worked out at all in the past ten years, and after much frustration of weighing over 200 pounds, stumbled into this world of Zumba, because, to me, treadmill, bike, or any other type of individual equipment just doesn’t do it for me. So here I am! Thank you for this video, which I have saved, and I will be looking up Todd Durkin.

I have been writing names down for the past couple weeks and have noticed a huge difference! I'll say "Mandy, right?! Great effort today, your range of motion was awesome!" And they'll be so surprised and happy that I remembered thwm from last week. I believe in everything you said and it's the best part of the job! Thank you for taking the time, I'm officially inspired!

Great video - one thing to note is to make sure you don't single out people in your class - people have a wide range of personalities -- they may be total introverts or etc or shy or self-conscious etc -- pointing out their shoes or putting them on the spot may make them feel uncomfortable/embarrassed, as much as they may quit coming to your class.

You are such an inspiration!! I love your videos...I'm currently studying for a Group exercise instructor and I'm listening every word you are saying but my big fear is that I can't speak English well and I really don't know how to work on this especially when you have to teach a class and you have to communicate with people.I wish I could have some tips from you. Thanks, again 😘

Well I mean how do you go from being insane, to switching the personality of being free and bubbly with dancing. I teach insanity and am getting certified in cize in 2 weeks. I'm a bit nervous

+Mercedez Lopez I'm still the same person, I just put on a different hat. I still believe that connecting with students is KEY in a ll formats but it's simply studying each format and figure out what you LOVE about that format and letting that shine. For instance, even what I wear for CIZE vs INSANITY is totally different because it's just a different mindset. With CIZE, I always wrap something around my waist, and wear something funky and that mindset walking into it and knowing what the focus is for that format :) YOU CAN DO BOTH!
