We concreted half of the workshop 2 years ago, and never finished it... at long last we brought in a ready mix to finally have a fully functioning space. The first test will be building itself a new door - subscribe so you don't miss it!

You worked very hard on that project! The driver backing the trailer into the barn deserves a medal, especially as he had to turn in through the hanger, but why did you use polythene? You can easily specify waterproof in the ready mix for very little extra money and no weldmesh? The cuts through the surface are essential, and not something the "professional" floor layers usually do in France, there is a plastic form you can use which gives you a screed surface to level off to and acts as an expansion joint, it shows a narrow white line when finished, I find the ready mix drivers here in France are really helpful when they deliver, not like the UK drivers that will just dump off the concrete, they are more than willing to lend a hand, as your driver did, I did think you would end up with paw prints in your new trowelled finish floor! Stay safe ! Chris B.

Several years ago I laid a concrete floor for a veranda on the side of my barn. After spending hours trowelling it and making it look perfect I went to sit down on a chair and admire my work. In order to sit down I had to move a pile of folded up plastic sheeting!!!

Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan's kzfaq.infoUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.

As a new subscriber, I enjoy watching you and your Dad work on this old barn. I love the cadence of your narrating, it feels like story telling. Here are some suggestions for safety: always wear a dust mask when making dust (concrete or wood), wear eye and ear protection, wear gloves when cutting the control joints using the grinding wheel. Please note, I'm not calling you out on any of these items, this is more of a general statement overall when working construction projects. As a suggestion for setting pieces of rebar into adjoining concrete to prevent uplift/heave, drill the hole about twice the diameter of the bar, thoroughly clean the hole of dust, inject the hole with 2-part epoxy, insert the steel reinforcing bar. Great work. Keep the videos coming.

You should have bull-floated it. The bull float helps to push down the aggregate so it makes it easier to trowel and get a nice smooth surface. It also helps the job go quicker.

back side up sheet metal studs at 6 - 8 foot intervals at finished height help attain an even surface. you can leave the stud in or take it out and fill in with concrete. Not a bad job; but settling as the concrete cures allows for hills and valleys. Would resolve your cracking issues as well.
