If you have very long, well-kept hair, it might also be used to make wigs for people who lost their hair due to cancer. Matter of Trust is partnered with several charities who do this. If you've still got your hair, try searching for local charities who do this, or contacting a local hairdresser. If it's not good enough you could always send it to Matter of Trust

I was a bit disappointed when I started looking into donating my hair for kids with alopecia, and found that they don’t want hair that hasn’t been cut in a long time. My hair has been growing for 3 years with no cut. Then I found this non profit and was excited and shocked that anyone can donate any hair an inch long and even though not directly helping children, it indirectly does. 💕 I wish there was a way to know which salons donate. It would be easier than collecting and mailing myself.

I have read the requirements of these places in the past day and they ALL take hair and prefer long. They just mean they don't want split ends so you would get 1" trimmed off the bottom first, then ponytail/braid and mark your 10-14" to cut to donate. One thing that I've seen noted on several of the places is that they can't accept hair that WAS cut off more than a year ago for various reasons (mainly sanitary reasons) unless it has been stored dry and in ziploc bag. Hair We Share, Children with Hair Loss, and Wigs for Kids (Michigan one) seem to be the best ones currently that I've found.

As usual, I'm a week late. My mom cut over a foot off my hair last week. If I'd heard about you earlier, you'd have at least one mat from me alone. I put this in my favorites so I can send you my next cut. Thank you!

This is great! I was loosing my hair after an illness at the beginning of the year, I have a bag of my hair i was going to make a wig with😂 I might just donate it here instead.

Hi there! I have a question and hopefully I’ll be able to get an answer! If I were to collect all of the hair that falls off from brushing my hair would I be able to send that in? It only mentions about hair trimmings. I will DEFINITELY be able to collect a bunch of hair by doing this but will it be accepted is the question!

Also wondering this..... I have like (no joke) 5-6 pounds of hair on my head. I have to clean out a small cat sized clump of hair out of my brush every couple days. I'd love for it to be used rather than wasted

Another comment says they do take clumps from hair brushes, as long as it's dry. :)

Could I give you all of my hair that comes from washing it? I have a lot of fall out every time I wash my hair. I could dry it and send it although unsure whether you need it plaited or I can just send in a ball/clump!

Why hair? Why not coconut husk? So much plastic and fuel used to mail in bits of hair, how is that eco at all?

think cause hair absorbs oil better than water, while coco husk will absorb more water instead of the oil compare with hair.
