How to fix 54 inch Curved Light Bar whistle noise, and glare problem on Silverado

This short video is going to show you how to fix LED light bar whistle or light bar noise when driving at higher speeds. It will also talk about how to pick a model out; Spot/Flood/Combo. I made the mistake of buying a spot/flood combo and I will go over the differences.
I used Rough Country mounts which work really well and were not too expensive.
If you have any questions, please feel free to comment. I hope this video helps you guys out. I wish I would have known these things when I was in the market for the Curved LED light bar 2 years ago.

To stop the whistling you can get some garage door trim seal and stuff it between the top and bottom fins on the back. After you get it in between the fins just trim to about 1/2” of the seal sticking out. Stopped my whistling. 16 ft of the stuff worked for 3 applications with some to spare if you mess up the first time like I did.

I'll try that. I bought a truck with a 54 inch flood. OMG the whistling sound is terrible. I will try this and let you know tomorrow. Thnx Cheers

guessing the same results for 2000 sonoma? with mine i was told a curved would fit my truck, those i think are combo in general? i have a black truck. or do i need to get the pull bar and like 20 inch bar on that?

Hey man great vid. I was wondering if you think that hood glare would be a problem with the combo at night with a red paint job? I've got a 2003 ford ranger and I'm looking to put a light bar on it. Also should I go for a curved or straight light bar?

Hey man I had the same problem but what I did was angle the bar a little down so it wouldn't whistle easy fix actually no hood glair

so you said you talked to Rigid industries on the problem is the light bar a RDS rigid. ? and did you use Rigid industries roof mounts did you get a new one to fix the problem . thanks

I wish I watched this video before buying mine. Im having all sorts of issues. Whistling sounds and also some sounds like paper flapping from the passenger side. My light no matter how much you tighten it points downwards when hitting a rough spot on the trail....im about to take it off and be done with it.

do all roof light bars make noise ? I want to install one on my 2016 ram. I love the way they look but dont want I'm necessary noise ?

I bought a spot and I have the same problem. No matter what kind you get, a roof lightbar sucks to drive with. It's cool for camping or repairs stationary but not practical. I reccomend a good one upfront on the bumper

The wind resistance of the light bar causes a negative effect on your mpg and aerodynamics as well.

Did you put the strips all the way across the light in the fins or just portions of it? I think i'm gonna grab some covers for mine as well!

All the way across and I did every other fin about half way up starting from the bottom

im suprise that the lens broke.they also show those "torture Test" .how they drive over it,freeze it,drop it from high up.etc

Too late!!! wish I'd seen this video earlier, ordered the combo. it doesn't reflect back though but it doesn't travel far, it just throws light everywhere. not very useful except that it looks cool. That whistling noise though, phew

That sucks! The whistle is super easy to fix. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and ask for the rubber tubing the holds the screens into place on the aluminum frames. Works wonders. Hit me up if you have any questions.
