I went a bought a cheap belt grinder to help dress up my bars. Funny we had this talk at Boonville. How we were cutting to the left or right. Hahahaha. Great tool Tony

Wow TC, you know I've been cutting wood since i was 16 and I'm 62. They say you learn something every day! Yes I wish I was 43 again and wish the woodhounds were around then!

Take a black sharpie and mark the top of the bar rails , you can watch the job and tell you when it time to stop .

Dressing the bar is part of my standard maintenance. I’ve been dressing my bars for about 40 years. My dresser of choice for all these years is made by Nicholson. Nothing fancy, but it does the job.

Run the file toward the other end, not toward the tip end. That way you don’t get tons of scrap in the tip end that you’ll need to clean out.

@@TCsOutdoors1 you and me both on the filings. I ended up using a magnetized screwdriver and then flushing it in parts cleaner.

Interested to learn the results. I had $60 ear-marked for a new 20" bar but is sounds like there might be hope! Tool Tuesday is great! Keep it up for as long as you have tools to talk about. Makes no difference to me whether it's something you got for free, or whether you paid for it. Not sure why anyone would care, as long as you think it's neat/helpful.

Good one Tony……..I had always addressed the issue with a pic, file, wd-40 and an air compressor and light sanding. That tool looks like it would be much better then using my old eyes and guess work 🥸. Look forward to you running it and seeing if it ends up with good results 👍👏🇺🇸 Rick I didn’t realize you were only 43 I would have thought at least 45 lmao 🤣 Actually thought more like 35 to be honest 👍

Nice tool. For the time and cost it seems like a great idea. Cost of bars is a bit crazy especially 24 and bigger.

Your Brockport pal here, Did you clean the channel out with carb cleaner or something similar before putting the chain back on? I've done this job before but with a flat file. This looks easier. Be well :)

No it was cutting very crocked before I dressed the bar. It cuts great after!
