It worked on a Mueller kettle too! I had the same problem and your solution was spot on! The contacts were a slightly different arrangement, but the concept was the same.

This video was exactly what I needed! I had the same problem, and your solution worked great. I didn't have any sandpaper, but a nail file worked just fine.

This is the second kettle that breaks on me and this time I decided to try and fix it using your video. Mine is a newer model so getting to the little parts to sand took foreverrrr! But it totally worked! Thank you!

It worked. To get to the black box you need to unscrew the 3 screws from the metal plate, be careful to not mess the spring action of the small meta pieces inside

I was able to follow the instructions and get the kettle fixed :) thanks! One thing to note is in the video it does not show how to take off the black box…you have to unscrew it from the kettle there are 3 bolts that hold it to the kettle and another 3 screws that hold the black box closed. Just FYI

i have an exact kettle, the on-switch has stopped working. when i press it, it doesn't stay down..so the only way to keep it on is by holding it down... I can't seem to figure how to access it to see what the matter is, any ideas please?

Can someone please take resistance measurement across the neutral and hot pins on the plug, with switch on, on a working kettle, so everyone can have a quick way of knowing if the entire system, including reistive heating element, is in working order? I measure about 6.8 Mohm, from neutral and hot leads, but kettle not turning on. Is that resistance way off?

I tryed this and it didnt work at all. No lights or heat or nothing. Anything else can i do to fix it?

Apple cider vinegar inside kettle worked for me - for descaling - (but may have had other effects). Neat cold, then added 0.5 litre of water and boiled. Handle ACV with care as it's strong stuff, esp. undiluted.

Was that the thermostat you cleaned out?

Chefman must have caught on to your video to fix the kettle and they want everyone to buy new ones because mine has triangular headed screws on bottom of heat plate / power source. Model RJ11-17-T1. Someone should start a class-action lawsuit because they are for deliberately contributing to unnecessary landfill (by cause and effect) and that has to be a crime. Guess I’ll go buy some triangular screw drivers.

My kettle was working until I descaled and washed. After that the temperature control started making noise. It turns on but doesn't heat the water.

I accidentally set mine in the sink turn the water on like an idiot it wasn't in there very long and didn't get everything soaking wet but I want to make sure it's completely dry before I use it. what components do I have to make sure are completely dry? I can send you a picture but I don't know where to send it. I'm guessing I just need to see how deep the components go..

Dude I took the bottom of my first one years ago and saw why it'd stopped turning on...the plastic all around that heating element, totally melted, like wow. I buy a new one trying to find anything with a different type of heating element on bottom but theryre all made exactly the same...and go figure, the next one I got same thing happened...I don't get it why would they have plastic all around a heating element

Holy crap, that's the same one I've got! Chefmen sent me a warranty replacement after the first one burnt out, so now I potentially have two working electric kettles!
