Hey, thank you for the helpful video! I have a situation with my Xbox One X and I hope you can provide some insight. The power button, sync button, and eject button don't work on my console. They're completely unresponsive. The disc drive works fine and I can eject discs through the dashboard. Do you think replacing the power board will help fix these issues? Thanks!
@TweakTips3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carlos - you are welcome, and thanks for the question. As all three buttons are not working, I would suggest opening up the console and checking that the ribbon cable still has a good connection to the power board - this ribbon cable connects the eject button back to the motherboard (via the power board) and if this has moved it could be causing a short making all the buttons unresponsive. The bind/sync button does not connect via the power board (it connects around the side of the console on another ribbon cable) so it is worth checking that too. If all connections are good, then I would try swapping out the power board.

@@TweakTips Thank you for the tips! I'll look into this when I have a chance. I saw in another video that the front USB is also connected via the ribbon cable you mentioned on the side. Yet the USB seems to be working fine because I can connect my controller via USB. I'm wondering if it's indeed a short that's causing all the buttons to be unresponsive. Regarding the controller, I can't get it to wirelessly sync even with a USB cable. Do you have any idea what could be the problem there?
@TweakTips3 жыл бұрын
@@Carlos-pr5np No problem at all. As you are having trouble connecting the controller over wireless then it even more points to a faulty power board (or shorted connection on the ribbon cable) because the WiFi chip for the controller is on the power board... let us know how you get on.

@@TweakTips Hey, I'm just following up on my situation. I opened up my Xbox One X yesterday to inspect the power board and it was indeed the issue! The connector on the back of the power board snapped off and was stuck inside the Xbox! I thought removing and connecting the ribbon cable would be the most daunting task, but getting the top case back on was a complete nightmare! It looked like someone might've previously opened the Xbox and broke some clips on the rear housing. There was a small crack on the side of the top case, too. I actually purchased this Xbox at a thrift store and it was sold as is, so it was honestly a gamble on my part. I figured I could sell it for parts in the event that it didn't work. After some troubleshooting and research I had a hunch it was the power board and found your video. Anyway, long story short my Xbox is running great! I bought it for $55 USD and the power board was about $25 USD with a 180 day warranty. I'm really happy with the great deal working out in the end. Thanks again!

Hi there! Crappy packing from eBay got me a cracked Xbox One X that works, except for the power button. The case is loose on the right side, so I was able to lift it and confirm that the micro switch works just fine, so it's the actual button. There's nothing behind it that would touch the microswitch and I cannot find out what might be missing or a replacement part for it, as all power button ribbons I found online seem to be for the regular Xbox One.
@TweakTips2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the plastic casing part which presses the microswitch is broken - can you see it in the box anywhere?

@@TweakTips Sorry, KZfaq never sends me a notification when someone replies, it's very aggravating. I only found out that you replied today by going through my comment history, which I didn't even know existed. Thank you for replying. Yes, it ended up being what you said, the case was broken and when I ordered a new replacement one, it worked just fine, so all is well now.

Thank you. Nice tutorial. I have a prob;em with the eject button. It seems to be getting pressed in it's own and it spits out a disk after after turning the xbox one x on autoamatically. I even hear the eject button beep every 10 min when the console is off. Not sure what's going on. Is there an easy way to just disable the eject button?
@TweakTips3 жыл бұрын
Have you opened the Xbox? There is a ribbon cable which runs from the eject button and connects to the power board - make sure this is seated correctly into the socket on the power board as it sounds like the tracks on the ribbon cable are shorting

@@TweakTips Thank you for your quick reply. Do I need to remove the bottom plastic piece as well to check that?
@TweakTips3 жыл бұрын
@@chillegaming8250 No worries - you can check the connection to the powerboard without removing the bottom plastic, but if you need to check the other end of the ribbon cable (where it attaches to the eject button) you will need to remove it. It can be removed by undoing the 6 long silver screws.

I accidentally broke that little plastic button for power while taking apart my xbox. The panel is not damaged though. Should I try to put back that little button back or buy a new panel?

The little buttons are micro switches so you will need a magnifying glass to solder it back on... but it is possible.

@@vulgervulcan6345 Hi Jay - when the Xbox is powered on, do you see anything displayed on your TV? Usually when an Xbox stays powered on for around 30 seconds, it points to a faulty hard drive - on boot up, the Xbox tries to read from the drive, then after 30 to 60 seconds it will time out and power off if it cannot read from the hard drive. It is worth plugging in a spare hard drive and powering the Xbox on, if you get a display and the Xbox stays powered on, then it is your hard drive that's the problem ;-)
