How to fix floor gaps

This video explains how to fix floor gaps on a floating floor. Since a floating floor isn't glued to the subfloor, this is quite easy to do without ripping the floor apart or requiring any expensive tools. Take a look and see how it's done!

Thank you for this video! We live in an apartment and our landlord gave us misc tools that didnt work to fix it. Not gonna spend $21+ on Amazon for a one-time job tool. Glad to stumble on this video. We used an old wood chopping board with command strips and it worked like a charm! ❤️

Command strips is a genius idea. I didn't want to risk using double sided tape just bc there's always a risk of marring the floors finished. 👍

Thanks, but what if they are in the middle of floor? Do you keep moving them,? You are the only one who addresses that when you fix one gap, it makes another.

Yup! Unfortunately it can get quite tedious but that's exactly what you would do. It might be helpful to do a bit of planning before you start - determine which side of the room would be less work to move towards, and also take into consideration whether you have any furniture on either side of the room. If you have a table, rug, couch, or anything else on one end of the room but nothing on the other, it might make more sense to move the floor towards the side without the furniture. That way once everything is moved, the remaining gap will be covered by the furniture.

My method is faster, just wear boots that won't scratch the floor, then kick the board in a descend forward (like swing) motion, that would press the board down and forward at the same time, much faster only when that doesn't work than you proceed to use that method and others shown on YT.

The gap will form again and eventually the pieces will be so loose that the boards will begin to shift while walking on them.

what brand of sticky pads .... kinda look like scotch

I don't remember off the top of my head - either Scotch or 3M. The brand shouldn't matter, as long as they are sticky but not permanent. They tend to get less sticky each time you lift the block off the ground, so you may want to have quite a few depending on how many floor gaps you need to fix.
