@85crazytechlaz cool, man cool lol. I don't think the legion go will be any better. It's still rocking windows. I only like windows on pc, but it's not a good look for handhelds or consoles. I will be picking up the legion go myself. It's going to be the last pc handheld I try though. Honestly, I'm looking more forward to the switch 2. I have no faith in these pc handhelds. They sound good on paper, but in reality, they're all commercial failures. I hate the battery life, the software, the operating system, always have to be online, the constant annoying updates and gamepass lol.

@@85crazytechlazyes this literally just happened to mine after the latest windows or my asus update . My ally wouldn’t read my Samsung 512 pro . And the whole system was very sluggish. I popped it out and put a cheap pny 32gig sd and it worked like new again . I’m leaning on that this is a software problem

@@darylgonzalez5666 yeah use a microSD card A1 not A2 any A1 microSD will work well on it because software on the MicroSD card drive is old they need to update that

Yeah I know I have this little flaw with the whole situation of the drive for the SD card but if you walk around it and do what I told you to do on the video and other people how they giving some good advice has in the comments then the Ally will be a perfect handheld gaming device so so far to me it's great and it's been working great and I haven't had no more problems and actually out of nowhere for the past like two to three weeks the SD card readers been working perfectly fine with the slower speeds of the download and upload speeds microSD card which is the A1 and when I try to put A2 it like doesn't try to read it so I just stick with the slower we download and upload speeds microSD card then the high-speed ones

If you go back and see when they posted saying that it's a hardware issue the actual company Aces and when you see when I posted this video then you know that we all started knowing this issue was a hardware issue or or maybe a card issue which that wasn't the problem it was an actual Hardware issue and the only way that they can fix it that I know by now it could be a software update as simple as that so before you say what you said in the beginning of your comment check the timestamp of one I posted this video and when Aces posted the article stating that the MicroSD card reader on the device is flaw some way somebody on here on the comments or me I think I do in my description has the link if you want to read it of what they said and when they posted it meaning Aces so thank you for the comment have a good day ✌️👍

Yep that's exactly what it is and it sucks because I always have to go ahead and take my microSD card that's inside of the slot of the Allied and put it on the dock in order for me to download things or move things around and then put it back in the MicroSD reader the lot crap that they got to fix and also come to find out it could be hardware issues as well with the micro SD reader Hardware itself smh

I experience exactly the same. Cards are fine on other devices but Ally doesn't read the Sandisk 1TB cards anymore. It does read other cards though. I believe it can be a hardware fail as well, no? Because it has been working fine and suddenly failed without any changes to the drivers.

@@XingFisher666 it could be a hardware problem or it some kind of protection mechanism the sandisk possesses that blocks the usage of devices that made the card increase the temperatures to a certain degree.

It's not just "fast 1tb" cards mine stopped working with a regular speed 256gb sandisk (the grey ones) The issue is the reader no matter what results make you think otherwise...

Yeah the download and upload speeds are a tad bit slower on the A1 micro cards but it's not that much of a big difference so yeah they work perfectly fine actually and sometime it's has its problems as well as the A2 with the Ally but that's something that's probably going to be a software or a hardware issue with Aces to fix... that's why for me the workaround is me having my doc which I made a video on it hopefully you can look at it and that's like a workaround for transferring stuff quicker and downloading stuff then just putting it back in the MicroSD Slots of the Ally.... and also thanks for the comment 👍😎✌️

@cppctek the sd card reader will evenually stop working from the heat. Solution is to use a cool fan that will keep the temperature on 73c max when playing any triple A game on turbo mode.

@@jaymatthew738 that's why people need to curve fan in manual mode but if you do that you're not connected to power when the battery is good to drain meaning people shouldn't do it while they're on the go but yeah that's the best way to do it just curve fan in manual mode like when I'm in silent mode or performance mode if I'm out I keep it on silent mode but the games that I played like if I'm out and it's on silent mode are like emulators so it's not taking that much juice you know draining the battery and all like for instance yesterday I was playing for like almost 2 hours and it was at 96% when I started then they only came down to 64% I think it was and I was playing a PSP emulator

The strange thing is these burned out cards that are broken work the instant you put them in another device and the card reader works when you put another card in it, so this is a strange issue I think he’s right about it being more than just heat

Question, is it safer to just not LOAD demanding games with the SD card in or don't even bother with the SD card at all?

Sorry for the late comment but your best bet is to get a A1 micro SD card whichever gig it doesn't matter it works perfectly fine with the Ally but if it's a A2 microSD card it won't because the software is old on the MicroSD card Drive that's in the Ally and they still haven't updated it stupid in Asus part but whatever

@rchaze9730 yeah if you've been doing the fan curv than your good never going to mess up the SD that you put in it....... also if you play like emulator games on performance mode or Turbo then what nothing will happen to the SD as well but if you play in any of those modes which is silence performance for Turbo then after a couple of weeks like 2 or 3 weeks or something depending on how much you play it's going to mess up the hardware it's like a hit or miss dude

And for your second question yes it will work good but like I said on my video If You fan curve your ally everything will work good meaning like you have to go ahead and manually have your fan going high at times and that's if you just got your Asus Rog Ally all you have to do is fan curve your fans so they can ramp up faster and higher now if you're playing like emulation games then you're okay you can put your device on silent performance or Turbo it's okay but what I suggest is if you're playing emulation games just put it on silent and if you're playing like AAA games like on Steam then you have to Fan curve your fans to ramp up faster and that's going to waste battery fast but that's when you go ahead and plug it in to your charger while playing those AAA games with your fans ramped-up faster and higher

​@85crazytechlaz I'm new to Rog Ally that I bought just yesterday and been on a journey to set it up firmly without bloatware and and other knick knacks. So for the demanding games do I just ramp up the fan from the 4 options, silent, 10w,15w,38w? Or do we manually adjust the fans elsewhere in the system. I'm barely hearing this term Fan Curving for like the 3rd time. This was a good video by the way and I was gonna assume also my 1TB extreme just broke from just inserting it after for 30minutes in the Rog ally.

1. the software haven't been updated on the actual driver for the SD card And 2 it haves to be both those problems which it where they mounted the SD card reader driver right next to the fan I mean that's not good in their behalf they shouldn't have did that that means they rushed things that means we have two curved the fan and always play it the device plugged in we can't play triple a games like how they show in their videos and their commercials like if we're out and about we always have to keep it plugged in because if we do a fan curve and have the fan ramped up then that means the batteries go to drain in like 10 minutes and trust me I tested it out battery doesn't last long unless I'm playing something emulation likewise ever since I started getting the problem and I just right away started doing a fan curve to amp up the fans the problem went away but it doesn't read A2 microSD card still just A1 which sucks but whatever thanks for the comment 👍✌️

Dude I'm so sorry for the late response but yeah the dog that you purchased from AliExpress Probably was faulty it was probably messed up I wouldn't suggest putting anything on it like micro SD cards or connecting your device to it because stuff on there are not reliable on AliExpress so best bet is to go ahead and go with it to like Amazon or something like that that's where I got my dog from that same one yeah the price May differ but at the same time at least you won't get one that's faulty that's going to mess up your micro SD like it did to yours you know so don't buy nothing from AliExpress if you're going to go ahead and put something that works more than it on it you know

Okay so this is how it goes read and write speeds I just another word for download and upload speeds now I suggest people should use for now A1 because they're slower than A2 MicroSD cards but it's not that much of a big difference A2 microSD cards are faster than A1..... and if you want to know what's the actual numbers of the read and write speeds of a MicroSD card you can look that up because all different brands have different speeds on their MicroSD cards does it matter if it's a 1tb 128 gig or a 512 GB or whatever for that matter different brands always a up there read and write speeds for sales when half of the time it's not the actual read and write speeds that they're saying that the MicroSD card performs feel me??

After having a device for a while I come to realize that I always thought that it was the actual card reader that's built in where you go ahead and put your microSD card in but it isn't that so I found out at the doing some research and stuff it's a chip it's called the controller chip and it's the chip that controls the MicroSD card now where it's located it's under the fan where it overheats and the chip breaks so that's a matter that needs to be fixed by your warranty which is an RMA situation that you have to send it to Asus now what you can do is just if you're still under warranty and they should fix it it's a RMA situation and they'll do it for free because you're still under warranty and also it's located in California so I mean if you're in the country of us it'll be quick depending on how far you're from there and stuff but they'll help you and they'll fix it because they fix the mines hopefully that helps your comment 👍

Yeah what I did was recently I just said forget it I'm going to send it back to them since I have warranty so they can repair it so come to find out what Aces is doing now is they're repairing the whole motherboard and putting a new one if you're having problems with your Rog Ally and they're putting a like a type of thermal pad on the MicroSD card slot which is fixing the situation and they did something else with the MicroSD controller which is a chip that's on the motherboard that's helping it from burning out from the heat so they fixed a lot of things on the new motherboard and supposedly mine is getting repaired right now so hopefully I get it soon because I want to make a video on that telling people what they did on my Rog Ally

Actually that's a good question... those fans are ramping up fast it's not that loud but it is a little bit loud but who's going to hear it when they're playing a game on the Ally you know and also helps the fans that are inside of the Ally so with the fans in the Ally plus those fans it helps a lot

@@airforcesneil everything's okay what it does is just blows in air while the fans that are in the Ally are blow the hot sir that in side the Ally up and out the vents that's on top of the Ally

Okay so this is an old video so I'm going to let you know what I did so what I did was I upgraded my SSD card to a 4 TB 2280 SSD and my microSD wasn't working at all so that's why I put a 4 TB but a lot of people that I know kept telling me to just send it back to Aces so they can fix it which is an RMA what is this is going to do now is fix your device if you send it in for a RMA and put a brand new motherboard that's going to fix the situation that they have which is a flaw with the motherboard and actual chip that reads the microwaved card it's in the wrong place so they fix that and the new motherboard so they're going to swap out the motherboard and send you back a new motherboard with your ally fixed and it's going to be running perfectly fine the MicroSD card is not going to mess up on you anymore so that's the best answer I have because all of their units have a flaw where are the chip that helps the device read the MicroSD card is in the wrong place and that ship gets burned out right away because it's in the wrong place which is under the fan so the heat is just going to exhaust that ship which is called the MicroSD control chip so like I said your best bet is to go ahead and send in the device if it's messed up and not reading the MicroSD no more and tell them I need an RMA because my microSD card is not reading no more and they'll help you and it only takes the process like 2 weeks after they get the device they'll send it back to you and stuff

@@85crazytechlaz Yeah I guess that's always an option, the 1 year warranty will be up in June so I got till then to send it back if I do. I already had to drive 3 hours to bring back her first one because of a faulty bumper that didn't work 😅 Now there's an issue reading the card, mine is from the same shipment and never had any issues and I get mine hot quite a bit running it docked in turbo mode kinda weird I never had an issue with mine... Only difference is I use a pro and she has a pro extreme

@24crazyasslaz actually the device is cheap. This is the real problem, oeopke are expecting the performance and quality of a $1200 machine for half the price. If the drive is never fixed, it's a worthy tradeoff for the price.

Well with all do respect I don't get paid for this bullshit I'm just doing this to help people and if you're having that problem and you're not sending it to get fixed to Asus for a RMA then I don't know what to tell you man because right now with Asus is doing if you have warranty they're changing the whole motherboard so it fixes the problem of the MicroSD card and the microSD card controller chip so now it's working again I sent mine recently to get fixed because I want in my microsd card reader fixed and now I have no problem with it and it's working perfectly fine so I think the Ally is a very good device that was the only flaw they fixed it it works again perfectly fine the micro SD card problem and thank you for the comment

Yeahhhhhh alot of people including me try the same thing some it worked with some it didn't the only thing that's working right now with that microSD card reader Driver is a A1 MicroSd card doesn't matter what Gig it is it just needs to be a A1 not a A2 because the software on the MicroSD card driver is old they need to update it

@@TNE_tv oh yeah been working for awhile now since Asus doesn't like updating their software to their drives like they're supposed to if you get A A1 microsd sard it will work perfectly fine but since the software is so old on the MicroSD card Drive it's only doing a good job on reading A1 MicroSd cards.......hold on gonna test my A2 1tb SanDisk extreme Pro haven't tested on the Ally and months because of this problem let me see I have two of them let's see....lmfao none of them are working on it unless I put it on the dock and connect it to the Ally LMAO 😂😂 this sucks but it's all good I have a 4 terabyte 2280 SSD inside of the Ally so I got plenty of space for now until they fix this hopefully software issue for the MicroSD card Drive

Yeah it's going to work fine but at the same time if you have A1 card your good but the Ally is not reading the A2 cards like the 1b SanDisk Extreme Pro I have 2 of them and I connected to the dock and it works perfectly fine but if I go ahead and try to put them inside of the Ally they don't work and also I have a 128 SanDisk as well it's a Ultra and it works good with it but I don't need it I have a lot of games so the space is not going to help

I've been using a 1tb SanDisk since a few days after launch and mines fine. I've now recently put a manual fan curve on when Im plugged in. I did that after the SD card failure debacle shows up.

@jasonhadfield3902 that made you fixed it from the beginning before anything and that's good but does that mean you're going to keep it on manual all the time? because that drains the battery like crazy.... now maybe with some adjustments here and there it will help but I don't know 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I understand but like I say always fan curve when you play the Ally for a long time that means you're going to have to manually fan curves so it can ramp up higher the fans and trust me on this just use any A1 microSD card don't use A2 microSD cards

Because my A2 1tb SanDisk extreme doesn't work on the Ally and I have two of them same one's but they work but not on the Ally won't show on it unless I have the MicroSD cards connected to a hub like a dock that's connected to the Ally

@@85crazytechlaz too late, i already bought a 1tb A2 sandisk extreme pro. if it doesnt work, i still have the replacement 1tb A1 ultra. Yeah, that's what i did, i set the manual cpu to 20W and im getting max 60c temp only. Is 20w a good idea or is there a specific wattage config?

@@JESSROCKEDChannel yeah 20w is not a good idea your not going to get good performance out of it if your going to play a AAA game now if your emulator games then your good and if you fan curve it's best to put up the wattage as well

Yeah I looked it up and they're saying its software issues that Asus knows about and "looking for a fix" so they say......we'll see.... qlso I'm subscribed to Asus ROG so when they go live again when I'm going to ask them about that problem and hopefully they got an answer for me

And also I really think it's a hardware issue I think the Hardware that you put the MicroSD in the Ally is old but who knows but from the like of thing it seems like old hardware for it to do that and so for what we're paying I hope they help us out

From what I understand it to be asus fix seems to only be another fan curve update. And for the roasted sd reader sent for an rma . Although I am worried that it will be replaced with the same sd reader that has been faulting in the first place. No way I would wish to have that revolving door. Burns up rma it burns up repeat. Unless you just Do not use the reader at all. Shame yes. End of gaming surley no.i would take a 75.00 50.00 check from asus i can live without the sd reader. When the ally has been revised. Even replacement. I still want to know from asus their mad reasoning on placing the sd reader where they had in the first place. If or when I face this sd reader issue that's when I'd buy a 2tb ssd. Right after rma.heavy titled games I will always put on the internal drive in the first place.

It's happening to a lot different SD cards it doesn't matter the model.... but it's just a hardware issue because I uninstalled the sd drive that comes with it the software hard drive and it still gave me that problem when I put a different sd drive software......it sucks man

@@shredwerd009 and I forgot to mention the reason why I said you were going to have to fix the fan curbs this because if you keep it on silent performance or Turbo days could go buy you playing it's going to mess with the micro SD card reader that's built inside of the Ally so your best option is to go ahead and fix the fans like I said and amp up the fans so they can work a little bit more stronger to keep that area where the MicroSD card reader that's inside of the Ally cooler

Yeah it's a hit or miss for some people but just keep a manual fan curve when playing AAA games but if your playing emulation games then your good you can keep it on silent or performance

Well that's just happening on your device you should get it swapped out or tell them to repair or something because I had these issues but in the beginning and now every time I open the file explorer on the device it opens right away and no problems so it's just a hit-or-miss I suggest you go ahead and switch to your device then if you want to thanks for the comment

I just did, sent back for an RMA on the 8th and received a brand new unit on this past Saturday via FedEx. I put a 2TB ssd in Tuesday and works great but have yet to try another MicroSD. I can't get any of my PC's to reformat the ruined one, it locks them up but glad this worked for you@@85crazytechlaz

By now I know and researched it and found out that the controller in time that is a chip that controls the MicroSD card drive that's inside of the Ally Burns Out due to the fact that Aces they put it somewhere where it gets so hot in time that it just freeze out by itself so yeah that means the control chip that controls the MicroSD card Drive in the Ally is fried that means it's done not going to work no more mine just doesn't work no more either a lot of people doesn't work no more how about the answers your question then best thing to do is buy a mod adapter and get more memory on your SSD like I did I bought a mod adapter for my Ally and ended up getting a Ford terabyte 2280 SSD if you have any questions just let me know wuz up 👍✌️
