How to get a hi rail vehicle on track

We are on North Main Street, in the heart of the University of Delaware campus in Newark, where we see a hi rail truck just north of the railroad crossing. The truck is attempting to spot a very large MoW hi rail jet snow blower attempting to get its rails onto the tracks. It takes a few attempts but after some careful maneuvers, the 2 vehicles precede west on the tracks. I know there was never any real danger to any peds, but I still don't think they should of been crossing on the street and around the gates while this was taken place

That's how to put a high-rail truck on the track , if I am in a black and white , 1927 comedy ! Your TOP would have run out , just getting the truck ready .... KILLER !

Good Job CSX. You guys couldn't mount a hy-rail to save your lives. Funny how Myself and 1 other guy can set a grapple truck, the same length as this snow blower, on at a smaller crossing with no issues. Proves that CSX, still sucks.

That was painful to watch, more like how not to put on track I can get my hi-rail on track in under a minute, even on a dirt road crossing!

Look at the slogan they have on the light truck that passed in the end: Quality in motion". THAT IS FUNNY ! I totally agree... This was too painful to watch ! I felt I died a little bit watching this.

Can,t beleave how much difficulty they had getting the truck on the rails really what's so hard just line it up right using the crossing make sure everything's right drop wheels and go!!!! Some Of the workers are either slow,hungover or trying to get some overtime in. Frank Misssssschief 😂😂😗😗...thank you.

Like you, I was wondering whether this whole pathetic performance was just a scheme by the workers to get themselves some overtime, with a complete disregard for the inconvenience being caused to the waiting motorists. Considering the typical conduct of unionized rail workers over the last few decades or more, it wouldn't surprise me at all. While it's true that, for the sake of safety, many railroad procedures are done more slowly today than they used to be, this was just insane. (Notice, by the way, that although the video is about eight minutes long, the whole procedure actually took longer than that: there's a time-elision at 6:07.) If I'd been one of the motorists held up at that crossing, I would've laid onto my horn and tried to get everybody else to do the same, to try to jolt those workers out of their "we're wonderful and only management fails to appreciate us" attitude, and make it clear that virtually *everybody* despises their sociopathic behavior.
