In this video I walk you through the process of greasing your drive shaft. I'll cover what type of grease to purchase as well as how to complete this maintenance. Very simple project that anyone can tackle themselves.

Putting the car in neutral won't help with the rear DS. You need to jack one wheel off the ground so it can spin free. You want to make sure that all 4 caps show grease coming through. That might take several pumps after the first grease pokes through. I purge the old grease out. You'll need to clean out all the grease that squeezes out. Rotating the driveshaft back and forth as you pump will help get grease to all four caps. I have seen many cases of U joints failing because one cap got a clogged port and wasn't getting grease. I just hit 196K on my Tacoma with a lot of hard offroad use and towing. The U joints are all still good. I grease mine every 5K when I change the oil.

If the old grease doesn't come out from the slip yoke, where does it go? Because if I'm regularly greasing every 5K or so, won't it eventually get overpressured?

The grease will work itself out slowly over time. That is why you should grease every 5k or so. Thanks for watching.
