My Mom took “kill it with kindness” to a whole other level. Was also a favorite saying she had. Everyone told me what an awesome Mom I had. It took till mid 40’s to figure it out… after 2 failed marriages to one covert and one malignant. It’s been a journey… thank you for what you do to inform. Much love.

they all adopt sayings. My covert/bdp gf fav saying was "You do what you want.' so I broke up with her.

He was always the victim. No matter what was going on it was always because life was treating him unfairly. I was also always to blame for all the problems in our relationship. He was a pathological liar, not a single day went by that I didn't catch him lying. But he never took responsibility for anything. He also wanted to be taken care of by anybody willing to give him money. He has a tremendous need for money, especially if it's someone else's. I think when it came down to it he was scamming.

@@susanhoward7916 yep. Love bombed for 9 months. Then we went out for New Year’s Eve. Waiting on an Uber when were leaving and he got jumped by random guys we didn’t even know. I tripped over the curb tried to grab him and as he was being punched in the head he slammed me on the cement 13 times almost killing me. Was suppose to wake up 6 months later from The coma and woke up 11 days later and the homicide detectives could not tell me it was narcissistic rage due to HIPAA. So I dropped the charges. Then after that due to him being on suicide while in jail not being able to get his RN and not being able to speak to his 5 year old daughter becuz I’m sure her mother figured him out but of course didn’t reach out to me. Silently blamed me without saying so. Just silent treatment. Then he eventually tried to destroy my personal injury lawsuit. They are secretly dangerous. Mine was a con artist. Be careful who you trust.👍🏻👈🏻

As someone who has been in a relationship unwittingly with a Covert Narcissist for 26 years, I have to express my appreciation for you. You are extremely rare. The fact that you are able to provide us with the inside view of how a narcissist thinks helps us to come to terms with what we are dealing with. I was gullible enough to take things at face value for decades. After psychologically dissecting myself for years I finally found out what a CoNarc was and suddenly everything made sense. It hurts that I spent all those years trying to figure out what I was too stupid to get. In fact, there was nothing to get. It was not me. I just believed that what my wife wanted from me was reasonable...until it wasn't. Then I justified what she wanted and reasoned through why it made sense she would want that. 6 months ago I found out what CoNarc was and now I am done. I requested a divorce and am dealing with her in Gray Rock terms only because we have kids. I can never go back because she will never become self-aware. A narcissist (overt or covert) trademark is refusing to accept responsibility for anything they have done. Everything she has done to me was because of circumstances I put her in.

Yessss acted so caring in text and was completely different in action!I KEEP MY SANITY AND GTFO THERE 23 DAYS AGO I PAID EVERYTHING! My rent was paid lights water I went 500 miles to Virginia my home sleeping in my car AND JUST GOT A JOB ❤IM GOING TO BE OK! she took my $ time effort 🖐️ SHE WASN'T GONNA TAKE MY MIND

My ex was a covert narcissist, but I only realised it after I left him, after two years of been manipulated and gaslit by him. He blamed his ex for everything that went wrong in his marriage to her. He told me that she was a narc, he said he did research on narcissism. One day, a few months into our relationship. he even asked me whether I though he was a narcissist??? So, yeah, I agree with you that we cannot assume that a person is not a narcissist if they ask the question!! Thanks for making people aware. 😊

Recently i met a guy for a short period.. I once dated a overt narc. so i couldn't put my fingers if he also was a narc.. but yeah definitely a covert narc.. I didn't stay too long in it to see a full brown covert narc.. but i had a feeling sometimes was off..

have you gotten any sense of self returned? Self aware is one thing...doing something about it quite another thing. I tell people I have Aspergers...I rate off the charts. In reality, aspergers like narcissism, one can learn responses but never really feels them...very mechanical.

Something I have experienced with my mum and my ex which no one has addressed is how the narcissist will withhold/punish or attack when you are vulnerable. My dad is a pretty straight forward grandiose narcissist so he was just a moody bastard, but my mom and my ex would seem to show up more. In spite of my narcissistic family system, I am a strong, kind person [thank you, grandma] so not easily gaslighted. But when life dealt me body blows [being rejected, sick child, etc] that's when the knives really came out, especially my mother and my ex. The worse the trauma, the worse the behaviour. It was shocking, brutal, and devastating.

She literally took my purse keys $ debit card driver's license was gone for 24 hours she even gaslighted the cops Bec they didn't believe me! She is awful and police WOULDN'T HELP
