So just watched this right before practicing on my local house shot. Started out throwing my Phaze 2 (an original from when they first came out) and felt it was a little strong; lanes definitely weren't fresh even though I'm a lefty. I balled down to my 9 year old iQ Tour. I was working on getting my rev rate up and throwing it pretty hard and was pretty inconsistent (172-212-181). Got it going and stayed clean the fourth game for a 233 and then out of nowhere shot my first 300 ever the last game (and I've been bowling for over 40 years)! I generally dismiss my iQ Tour because it is such an old ball and is a "weak" ball to begin with, but clearly it was the right ball today for the condition. I've thrown games that were technically much better than the 300, but I had a ton of area and was getting great carry (and it helped that I was bowling by myself and on one was watching :)).

Hey guys, love your channel. My DH and I are in our 70s and still bowl. We know lots of people in their 90s who still bowl several days a week. That's what is so great about bowling, you can bowl no matter how young or old you are. We had a dear friend who recently passed at 99, who had Parkinson's disease and still bowled - he wore a gait belt and his teammate would hold onto that to help steady him and he would bowl. He'd been a successful pro bowler in the 50s and 60s and still bowled better than us. He always said, "The day I can't bowl, is when I'll die." Sure enough, when he go too ill to bowl, he died soon after. Keep bowling guys and keep up the great channel.

Great video, guys! As a low rev bowler my go-to house shot ball is my DV8 Thug, and I've bowled well, but that was while I lived in Arizona. I'm now in the DC area and I'm struggling on these patterns. I've since added a Black Widow 2.0 which has been fun to throw, but inconsistent on lanes as they break down. I ended up adding a Rhino (Red) to help on dryer lanes, and so far this has helped.

Loving the Brad & Kyle channel! I’ve not bowled on a regular basis, or on a league since 2007. A buddy has gotten me back into bowling, feel like I’m a newby learning all over again. Your videos have been a great help. I hope I can eventually get back to my old average & improve it too. I’m currently using a Storm Hy-road pearl. It has a lot more hook than my old Storm Eraser pearl.

Hy-Road Pearl is also my main ball on house pattern and it's great. If it's hooking early you can still get it to the pocket and it hits really hard, even on fresh it maintains the revs if you get the speed right.

I just bought the hammer black widow ghost pearl about a month ago & with all the great tips my average that I've had for the past 20 years of 150-160 jumped up to 180. Then I bought the new gem about 10 days ago & I love that ball. My average has went up another 20 pins with that ball. I've bowled 8 games each night for the past 3 nights in a row (66 games total just in May, & 24 games already in June) & I've thrown more 200+ (247 highest so far) games each night than I've thrown in the 20 years I've been bowling in leagues. For each 8 game set I've averaged over 200 all 3 nights. I've been pushing 64% strikes now from the 26% I was at. I also throw an older hammer doom urethane ball for my spare shots that's hitting 73% of them now up from 40%. Thanks for the great tips, it's been a big help.

I also throw the Pitch Black (13lb), typically start around 20 and throw at 12-13 (2 handed). It works great, but our house uses a long and wet pattern (buffed to 45'), so need something a bit stronger and earlier. Suggestions? I also throw a Phase IV (bite me USBC) but it's just too strong, have to go way left for that one, and harder to control

Thanks for the nice video and tips. As a low rev/low speed Classic Full Roller, my angles on house shots are always up the boards, or down and in. I tend to play up 7 or 8 and rarely have to get to 9 or 10 unless the lane is very, very dry. I use balls that tend to clear the front easily and have a smooth continuous reaction in the back. Recently I have had good success starting with a Pro Motion then balling down to my Purple Hammer which I have at 8000 grit once the PM dries my line up. This allows me to stay put and not have to make any adjustments.

Recently as of the past 6 months I’ve had a lot of success with my Hammer OG Web and Web Pearl(Brunswick Version) in my current summer league. Averaged 218 in my winter league this past season throwing the Columbia 300 Lit Pearl early in the season than transitioned to the Web pearl after Christmas. The house shot I bowl on seems to always be a mystery from week to week. One week it may hook a ton, and another the outsides may offer more hold. But I’ve been trusting my Webs to give me the ball motion and pin carry I like to see.

My house shot is more on the drier side and I had been using the Brunswick Uppercut and Brunswick Igniter up the 7 board but recently switched to SPI and now playing more in the oil and now have an Altered Reality, Helios and just got the Zen Soul the other day but haven't tried it yet. I have the uppercut and I use it for really dry lanes. Anything with oil and it just never gets good traction. I had a Paradox Red that was phenomenal on fresh house shots, and even some easier challenge patterns, but it decided to split in half, so I'll be replacing it one day. Currently, my go-to ball to start league is the Track Precision, then switch to one of my two Brunswick Fire Pearl balls.

For the longest time I had a pretty nice 1-2 punch for house shots in the Evil Siege and Strike King, two retired Brunswick balls. The Evil Siege was super aggressive but shaped things out nicely too. But if there was nothing but sandpaper out there I could ball down to the Strike King. Unfortunately, both were too heavy for me and I injured my elbow tendon throwing them (as well as everything else that was either 15 or 16 lbs). I'm trying to recreate what I had tho. Just got a Black Widow 2.0 which after seeing some other bowlers throw it looks eerily familiar to what my Evil Siege looked like. I got a Game Breaker Asym that does some nice work when it's dry. Both balls 14lbs, can't afford to throw heavier equipment as I go into my 40s.

Wishing I understood bowling balls a little more as I need weaker equipment or even was better at changing my hand position, another issue is my metal game cause I'm one of those frustrated bowlers watching everyone go up the Boards and Score. I have a question that hopefully you guys can answer. Being that Storm is your ball sponsor, do you ever get a chance to try other brands like Motiv or Ebonite?

House shot is a loose term. This past Winter league we decided to toughen up our shot. Most peoples average dropped by 20 pins. The first night a third of the league shot under 500. We used the same amount of oil volume as before, but shortened the shot. The free hook to the outside was nonexistent. Put a premium on hitting the pocket and making spares. I found that symmetric cores were easier to control on this shot. It’s a 40 ft shot. Love your videos! Keep them coming…

I'm a straight up 10 bowler and my average throw is around 13-14 mph... sometimes i miss the pocket light. The only option i know is to take a couple mph off or maybe add a bit of surface to the ball? Currently throwing a 15lb Purple Hammer.

I bring a Phaze 2 and a Zen to league right now. On some pairs I can throw the Zen anywhere and it finds the pocket.

Oh man favorite ball on a house shot I feel like the drilling matters more then the ball. My favorite Is more of s full roller layout 2 in chest out from the center of my hand. Dv8 dude, Columbia 300 burst, hyroad. I prefer a very controllable ball motion. That's 200+ average

I bowl on a house shot at Plaza Lanes in Corinth Mississippi I probably have a bad arsenal but, 1st, I have a Storm Fast Pitch, 2nd, I have a Roto Grip Hyped Hybrid, and my 3rd I have a plastic Brunswick Tzone for my spares.. I have bowled when I was a lot younger but, now my youngest wanted to get in to bowling and it’s out 1st time in league together.. I do practice some with my Roto Grip Hyped Hybrid but, I’m actually more consistent with my Storm Fast Pitch Any advice what ball you think I should stick with on a House shot..

I like how they are not messing up the mechanics on the machines by throwing a spare and not hitting reset

Hit more spares, (which I need to do better.) I'm using Brunswick Knockout at times and sometimes a Motiv Pride. I've got some big balls (heavy oil) that I use at times also. 195 average.
