So destroy a tool and spend more money on parts or....but a bar clamp for cheaper that does the samething? This destroy a tool, and did nothing to improve it.

I probably have 10 vice grips and a few pieces of scrap metal. It is a cheap tool that most people have a surplus of. A compact little bar clamp that tightens with that mechanism seems more useful than a 10th pair of vice grips.
@Tagerrun
@Tagerrun Жыл бұрын
@@dee5298 you wouldn’t get a 10th pair of vice grips you’d get a different tool that’s made for a job that vice grips aren’t? Takes more time and effort to make this, and welding skills to not fuck 5 up before you get it right. Not an improvement he just made a different tool. It can’t work down to its original operating size anymore because of how he welded it.
@dee5298
@dee5298 Жыл бұрын
@@Tagerrun Who needs 10 vice grips? I'm sure someone does but I can get by with 3. Another tool that does something slightly different seems more useful than another pair of vice grips. The modification is quick and easy, evenstartingfrom scrap metal. Welding isn't that difficult for a welder. If I was to somehow fuck it up I would then fix it. Easy. At least 1/4 of my tools is some shit I stuck together with some chicken shit welds to make what I have do what I need done.
@Tagerrun
@Tagerrun Жыл бұрын
@@dee5298 that sounds like a terrible way to work having to fabricate shorty tools with tack welds that can’t do the same job anymore. I also never said you needed 10 vice grips, just that the modification the man did made them not work properly anymore. If you enjoy having to redux your modification after a few jobs then more power to you, but I buy tools with lifetime warranties for cheap as fuck. All I need to do is walk into ace or Home Depot pick up my new tool and exchange my old broken one. Then I always have the right tool for the job that I know is going to serve it’s function every single use. Just bought some Klein tools, and they were worth the money for a life time warranty and good quality control so I don’t have to leave a job site or try to fabricate my own on the spot wasting time.
@dee5298
@dee5298 Жыл бұрын
@@Tagerrun I only need one of most of my tools. Why not make the extra something useful? Why would you need another vice grips to work properly when they could do something else properly? While I agree the person in the video did not make solid welds, it just isn't difficult to do. After a few jobs, the modification is refined and it is now the correct tool for the job. I have no interest in a lifetime warranty. If it breaks I am not about to stop working to exchange it. I am throwing it on the scrap pile or fixing it. The best tool is one I make exactly for the job I am doing and the way I work. On the rare occasion that one of my fabricated tools breaks I know my design is flawed and I rebuild it better. Fabrication just isn't difficult. Metal can be bent, melted, shaped, hammered, ground down and resurfaced back to its original form. It is more forgiving than wood or plastic. If you prefer to spend time dealing with chinesium tools or getting warranty replacements every time an over priced tool breaks then that's on you. I understand that not everyone can efficiently fabricate without an engineer telling them what hand to hold the grinder in but I make my tools the perfect tools for whatever job I am doing in little time and with little effort.

All the dumbasses talking shit about this.. does no one else have any sense of pride as a human anymore.? I take great pride in upgrading my tools and modifying things I use. EVEN IF there is something I can buy that does the Same thing, it feels much sweeter to feel crafty, like you contributed to not only yourself but made a small step as a primate. All steps to greatness started small, almost insignificant to those who dont see or realize it, but a step that was neccessary. Keep doing your thing buddy!

Most of us don't sub it just shows up in shorts/recommended etc. If all his videos are of ideas as dumb as this one then it probably does generate alot of hate.. I mean why would you destroy a $25 tool to make a $10 tool? Secondly the joining of two different strengths of metals is stupid and will break fast. Never seen the other videos and won't sub unless they do these things on purpose (bad ideas) in which case they are hilarious and this is brilliant but if "serious" they deserve the criticism

@@boomchakalaka3715 I think it's a joke channel and that they are meant to be awful, it might have started out serious but I'm 99% sure they are trying to be ridiculous. There's another guy's videos I've seen a few times (I think he's a mechanic) that does parodies of the "tool lifehack" channels that are meant to be serious, and it reminds me of this.
