kzfaq.info...
Instructions: You take one breath in, split into 3 parts.
Step 1: Breathe slowly through the nose for 4 seconds deep into your belly
Step 2: Breathe slowly through the nose for 2 seconds into your rib cage
Step 3: Breath slowly through the nose for 2 seconds and fill up your chest
Step 4: Pause and hold that full breath for a few seconds, then simply reverse what we just did.
Step 5: Breath out slowly through the nose for 2 seconds from the chest
Step 6: Breath out slowly through the nose for 2 seconds from the rib cage
Step 7: Breath out slowly from the tummy for 4 seconds from the belly (or until belly breath is empty)
This exercise takes practice, don't try to force it, if you can only breath into the belly for 2 seconds at the start, that's ok, its more important to practice this every day and improve.

This is one of the best breathing exercises for stress, it’s very similar to what Andrew Huberman talks about in regards to the physiological sigh. Expanding the diaphragm is so key, as is breathing through the nose, especially on the in breath. I find this exercise before and after doing a body scan is especially relaxing and grounding.

Hard I guess it's about control and practice. It might prove that we are all not use to breathing properly and fully.
@arlrmr7607
@arlrmr7607 3 жыл бұрын
@@garylist9 Not only do we breath poorly, we simply can't make permanent change because as soon as you stop consciously thinking about improving breathing, control is taken back by the autonomous nervous system which begins to breath you shallowly *to match your tense, anxious, competitive, combative modern social stance!* 😱 That's why I find I need to withdraw often into the peace of solitude. 😀
@garylist9

@@arlrmr7607 very true. Something I need to practice I think. Like anything practice makes perfect. Agree about the chest. I almost can't pop anymore air in. Maybe it requires slower inhalation or pacing the quantity. Maybe in time as lungs get stronger more air would come. That's theory I guess

Think of tummy as lowest area in the belly, then ribs middle and chest the highest area, this might help, essentially its one large breath broken into 3 chunks

Rib cage is when you breathe "sideway" (chest expanding on the sides) and chest is when your chest wall goes a little upwards.

Is this i need to do continuously , like 4 in stomach 2 in rib and 2 in chest ? Because while inhaling 4 in stomach i couldn't hold inside i started exhaling .. do i need to continuously inhale 4 2 2 and exhale to and count from belly to chest
@TAKEADEEPBREATH
@TAKEADEEPBREATH 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bala, thats correct, really slowly though the nose 4 into belly, slight pause, 2 more into ribs, 2 more into chest. Really focus on slowness through the nose so you dont fill up to quickly
