How to Inspect a 2 Stroke in 15 Minutes

This is what I do for any 2 stroke that comes onto my bench for an inspection. It tells me a lot about the engine in a very short amount of time.

I’m cheep so I capitalized on the bikes that customers are to cheep to repair. rebuild what needs to be ride for a season and sell. Keeps bikes running provides me with experience on different makes and models and thanks for the tips chuck 👍

my local Honda shop used to have a sign by the door to the workshop that said "Taking a dirty bike to a mechanic is like going to the proctologist without wiping your ass"

I'd start with the air filter check just based on the amount of durt sucking we see here on KZfaq. Nice list Chuck!

You should also do this exact inspection on any used 2 stroke you are thinking about buying.

Chuck I understand that there is a time for everything to die but when they do were do all the carcasses go . I don't see a lot of older machines being parted out .

Bearings, crank, piston, gaskets, oil & about 10 hours labour. Add tax & you’re sniffing $3k.

this is an old bike... pretty sure everything else is going to be wrong with it as well, but the power issue can be completely unrelated.
