This is a great video, as far as it goes. I tend to dive a lot deeper when I'm going to spend my hard-earned money on an expensive (to me) piece of equipment. Thanks for the checklist, it's a good starting point. That said, it could easily be 2-3 times that long to cover everything.

Hell I got burned by a new scag, not once but 4 times. All brand new mowers, all had issues, make sure you look over these covid builds guys. I posted a bunch of videos on my issues including the latest which was a 2022 Scag Tiger Cat 2, it had five oil leaks in less than an hour. I never even got a chance to mow with it.

I work at a scag dealership as a service tech. What used to be a simple unboxing we have to check over every bolt. Lots of contractors don't check the oil and blow the engine due to oil leaks, and manufacturers are not doing warranty for running out of oil because it says to check oil before every use.

So how do you be careful not to get leaks from your Transmissions? Do you just try to go slow over bumps and not turn too sharp?

It really depends on the situation and how handy you are but there are plenty of good used mowers out there, you just have to know what you’re looking for. And there is always the possibility of buying a used mower still under warranty. It’s not for everyone though. Thanks for watching.
