@@c.l.smooth29 some tips for removing the glass bowl. If the bowl is stuck, you can try to lightly knock around the edges (like knocking on a door). This may help to jar it free. @@natesoucek9532 The green wire is just a ground wire. it is meant to help protect against power surges. You can forgo the downrod green wire and just connect the green wire from the mounting bracket to the bare copper house ground wire.

I'm missing rubber grommet in the box for my 68inch fan. I want to flush mount the fan. Do I need the grommet or can I flush mount without it? Thanks for the great video!
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 2 жыл бұрын
The 68" version does not include a rubber gasket because flush mounting the 68" version is not recommended. Instaling the 68" verson flush mount will result in a much mower airflow because the amount of available air between the ceiling and blades will be reduced. Technically, the fan can be flush mounted, but you would need to call HDC customer service to order the gasket. Installing without the gasket could lead to a noise issue between the canopy and motor.

There is a 'warning' in the install manual to remove the rubber motor stops before installing the fan blades, but I didn't see it in this video. The lights on my fan work, but not the fan. That could mean that the black wire came loose from the black wire in the ceiling....but are there really fan motor stops on this thing?

Hi, I've just purchased this fan and I'm would like to operate the ligths and fan separately. I have a 14/3 that runs to the fan from a wall switch with both the black and red having power. Could I connect the black on black and blue on red in order to run the light/fan independently of each other?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Let me start by saying ** I AM NOT A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN, AND YOU SHOULD CONSULT WITH ONE IF YOU'RE NOT SURE ABOUT YOUR WIRING** ok, now I'll turn off the all caps and try to help you :) This fan can be wired so that the light and fan can be controlled independently. For standard installation, the manual instructs to wire the fan's black and blue wires to the house hot wire, but if you want independent control of the lights, you can wire the fan's blue wire to one power wire (red) and the fan's black wire to another power wire black. From my limited knowledge, the red wire should be the switch wire and the black would be a constant power unless the switch is a 2 separate toggle type switch. If the wall switch is just a single toggle switch, the red would be connected to the switch and the black house wire in the ceiling is probably just a constant power wire. Really hope this helps.
@tenazrael
@tenazrael 7 жыл бұрын
Awesome. That's what I thought regarding the wiring on the fan, that the blue was for the light and the black for the fan, but they don't specify in the manual nor do they mark the wires to show that. I do have a dual toggle switch that I will be using to control the light/fan independently of each other.

very helpful! but I'm having some issues with the wiring. So I'm installing a new fan with light in my house and I had success with the initial one but this time it's a bit more confusing. Anyone electricians or experts in here who can point me in the right direction. White (fan unit) to white (wall), black and blue (fan unit) to black (wall), but I'm confused about the red (wall) and the copper (wall) wires and what they connect to? Here are some pics and explanation of the wires: Black, blue, white on the fan unit. Red, white, black and a copper wire from the ceiling. Separate green wire from the fan as well but I'm doing a flush wall mount.
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 8 жыл бұрын
+Aller Ventures Sometimes the red wire is the wire connected to the wall switch. You can connect the fan black and blue wires to the red which would allow you to turn the fan on or off using the wall switch. You will want to figure out if both the black and red wires from the house have power. Typically a black wire is constant power and the red wire would be a switch wire (attached to a standard on/off toggle switch.) Once you decide which wire to connect the fan wires to, just cap the other wire with a plastic wire nut and secure it with electrical tape. Hope that helps!
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 7 жыл бұрын
You want to connect the white fan to white house wire, black and blue fan wire to black house wire, and green fan wire to bare copper wire from the House. Then, you can cao the red wire. Alternately, the red wire may be from the wall switch in which case, i would suggest connecting the black fan wire to the black house wire and the blue fan wire to the red house wire. This would allow you to turn the light on/off with the wall switch.

I just purchased this fan & it was installed by a Pro. I wanted to put in different bulbs, I unscrewed glass dome, replaced the bulbs but the bowl would not screw back in, I thought there might be an interference with the size of the bulb. To check, I removed the bulbs and then screwed the dome back it (not excessively tight) - it worked, however I am now unable to unscrew the dome to put different bulbs in it. It is locked tight and will not budge. I have even tried to unscrew using a gripper type pad - it is locked solid - short of breaking it, how to I get this dome off?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 6 жыл бұрын
Here are some tips for removing the glass dome: Use some rubber tipped gloves (regular dishwashing gloves are good too) and hold the glass by the outer edges. Push up slightly to unscrew. You can also try lightly tapping around the edges with your hands (like knocking on a door). Sometimes the dome gets locked and lightly tapping it may loosen it up a bit.Good luck!

Would it be possible to add a 75 watt smart led bulb? I only have one and I only want to use one. Would I be able to or no? the bulb i'm talking about is the third generation LiFX color bulb.
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 7 жыл бұрын
I am not sure about the LiFX bulb. I have not seem one in person. In general, there is not too much extra room in the light kit. If the LiFX bulb is much bigger than a standard 60-wtt incandescent bulb, it probably won't fit in the light kit with enough room for the shade to attach. The other thing to consider is heat. I am not sure if the LiFx bulb is rated for use in enclosed fixtures.

@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 4 жыл бұрын
Let me start by saying that i am not a licensed electrician and you should always consult a licensed electrician for wiring issues. That being said, a red wire is typically a wall switch wire. If that is the case, you have a couple of options. option 1 - Cap the house red wire with a wire nut and electrical tape and connect the fan as described in the video. Option 2 - cap the house black wire with a wire nut and electrical tape and connect the fan's black and blue wires to the house red wire. This will enable you to use the wall switch to turn the fan and light on/off at the same time. Option 3 - Connect the fan's black wire to the house black wire and the fan's blue wire to the house red wire. This would enable you to use the wall switch to turn the light on and off using the switch. hope that helps!

Is the fan connected to a wall control or switch? If connected to a wall control, the pull chains need to be set to high sped and light on before using the wall control.Did you recheck the wires to make sure connections are intact? Sometimes, wires can loosen and disconnect during the installation.

@ceilingfans101

We would suggest double checking that all the parts are completely tightened and that the ball is seated properly in the mounting bracket. You can also try a rubber isolating pad between the mounting bracket and the outlet box. Squeking at high speed indicates something is loose somewhere.

To troubleshoot the light kit, and knowing that the fan works, I would try to connect the blue light wire from the fan to the black house wire and see if the light works that way. So, cap off the red wire from the house and connect the fan's blue and black wires to the house black wire. If the light kit still does not work, i would make sure that the light kit wires have a secure connection to the wire at the bottom of the fan. If after wiring the fan's blue wire to the house black wire, the light kit works, that would tell me that there is something wrong with the red wire (possibly bad switch). If you have replaced the bulbs, make sure that the bulbs do not exceed 60 watts each. If that doesn't help, I would call Home Decorators customer service at 1-800-986-3460. Their team usually does a good job at troubleshooting. Good luck, and please let us know what happens.
