(Links to products below) New Electric Vehicle (EV) owner here. Loving the Rivian R1T, but didn't want to shell out a couple thousand getting a home charging system put in by an electrician, mainly because I know I won't be living here in the next year or so. Figured out a solution that may work for you. Also this system could be perfect when traveling at vacation rentals or other's homes to easily take your Level 2 charger on the road! Hope it helps & below are all the products that I used for this DIY project.

Thank you for a great video! I liked the detail of your install as my dryer location is similar and I also needed to go through a side wall into the garage, not the wall behind the dryer where the NeoCharge Splitter is usually plugged in. I have watched a TON of KZfaq videos on this, and yours is the first that showed a product for passing the cable through the wall that made a good looking finish to the job. It was especially important that you demonstrated that your cable, with the massive endpieces, would actually fit through the passthrough piece. Your fix for cutting off the back side of one of the pieces was helpful. I wanted the NeoCharge Splitter because it is all made in the U.S., and that limited my available options. Lastly, the NeoCharge Splitter, with the NEMA 14-50 plug, and two 14-50 outlets (my dryer plug is a NEMA 14-50) is their only model NOT available on Amazon, and on their website discounts are very hard to find, but I used your affiliate code, and got a $40 discount! Thank you!

Gary, thanks for the thoughtful, detailed response. You’re very welcome! I’m extremely happy you found it useful. Thanks for making a purchase with the link! Really glad you got a good discount on the system. Don’t forget to check with your State Government or local energy provider to see if you qualify for a rebate as well. Best of luck with your install and EV!

At 240V 24A what is a typical rate of charge in miles per hour? My 2022 Ioniq 5 Long Range battery charges at 6.9 kw using 240V 30A unit. That’s about 28 miles per hour. Thanks.

Great video. Really help to me to have idea what I do. What comments about neo charge? What amps is your rivian charger? Because I have Mach e and ford charger is 32amp.

@jorgeMorales-do5pr, thanks for watching. Glad it helped. So far the Neo Charge has been a champ. No qualms. Does as advertised. Sometimes I’ll get a charging error on my Rivian app and be like, “what’s up?” until I realize my wife put in a load of laundry. Haha! The Rivian portable charger goes up to 32A. My breaker the NeoCharge is accessing is a 30A. Typically I set my truck to charge at 28A to be safe and not run the plug or breaker to the max. Your set up should be perfect for this. Thanks for considering my NeoCharge referral link if that’s the direction you decide to go. How do you like the Mach e?

Just make sure you can power your amperage down or ensure you have a breaker that can support more than 30A (as I understand most newer homes have high than 30A).

Thanks for watching! Great question I should have addressed. I bought mine directly from NeoCharge as an accessory. For my set up I needed the NEMA 14-30P to 14-50R: Here’s the link: getneocharge.com/products/nema-14-30p-to-14-50r
