Great video! Thanks for the info. I'm a few years out from being able to go full time and am currently a weekend warrior, that being said I would love to see how you guys are liking the class C while full time. I believe you do a lot of workcamping in between some extended stays and would like to know how you handle things like grocery shopping ect while at an extended couple month stay somewhere while working. This is the part of me that is thinking a trailer would be a better option for me as you don't need to break down to go to the store having a separate vehicle to do things like exploring while posted up somewhere. Anyway, thanks again for the updates, it's good to see yall out there on the road doing what you love! Cheers!

We love our class C. Went 1.5 years with just bikes to get around. Finally saved up for a tow vehicle that we pull behind using our Roadmaster tow gear. It’s so easy we hardly know the car is there. That’s the key to our long term stays when we have to work camp. It’s worth looking into if you have a towable car already. Similarly. If you have a truck already maybe the trailer works better financially. Up to personal preference. For us, the tow vehicle behind our Class C is perfect.

Did you have any issues with wiring it? You didnt show that part and many reviews state they couldn't get power. Would've loved to see how you ran the remote and wired it. I saw briefly you had red to black and white to ground. Did the blue wires just go straight to the remote? Thanks for the video

We left that to the professionals, and sorry to have left that out. We were racing bizarre Los Angeles rain and sunset. But the wiring schematic should have outlined the wiring of the remote.

Do you have links to the parts you used for the propane line extension? I have that same issue. I already decided to get some additional water lines due to the different placement on the Fogatti than on the Atwood, but I don't know the correct parts to extend the propane line. Everything I'm finding seems to be for your grill and not the 5/8" UNF size specified by Fogatti. I had that same issue with the screw heads for getting the Fogatti into the opening. I had metal pieces there and a couple of bangs with a hammer where the screws scored the metal and it slid right in. Thanks for the informative video.

I do not. I just know it was readily available at Home Depot and a much more sensible solution than trying to pull and bend the existing copper pipe. Sorry!

I have an Atwood 6 gallon water heater in my camper and it has a 15in. Tall x 18in. Wide opening. So i have been trying to find a heater that comes with that size door. As soon as i find the proper sized unit i will be purchasing one for sure. I am set up permanently in a full hookup site so i hope it works like it is supposed to. Appreciate the video. Have you had any problems since you made this video or any updates on how its been operating for you?

If you’re stationary and don’t rely on hot water when boondocking then you’ll be fine. We’ve not had an issue and only ever “wasted” a bit of water when boondocking. But we’ve found ways around that.

Hi. Nice video.. I boon dock a lot. I understand the only drawback is a waste of about 1/2 gallon to get hot water to the faucet. Is the half gallon waste the only drawback for boondocks?

I just installed this in my 2019 Shasta and when I turn it on I first get a number 12 then to the temperature but the unit never fires up. The water is flowing the propane is on and lines bled but I’m at a loss. Any ideas?
@CalledToWander

Not sure, unfortunately. The only errors we’ve ever had was when we ran low on propane.

What about the remote switch. My 2006 Aerolite has one switch if using propane and the other is for electric. Are these still used?
@CalledToWander
@CalledToWander 6 ай бұрын
This tankless heater only uses propane. There’s no electric element like in an ordinary RV tanked water heater.

I have the 10g Atwood in a 2002 Fleetwood Bounder. From your understanding what challenges can I expect?
@CalledToWander
@CalledToWander 2 ай бұрын
If you haven’t owned it since 2002 then likely previous owners didn’t change the anode rod. Check that immediately and replace it if it’s corroded. If the anode rod has been bad for a long period of time there’s a chance the water tank itself is corroding from the inside out. Worst case is you’re going to turn it in one day and hear it start to heat up and then the terrible sound of water spraying and leaking out of the rusted tank. You can also look beneath the tank exterior and look for signs of rust. We had a rust pile under ours, probably 6 months or so from catastrophe

Thanks! I was meaning challenges with changing from the tank to the tankless. I just recently ordered the tankless

The challenges we faced were figuring out which wires to connect from the new unit to your existing wiring from the old water heater, which will vary. Also, we had issues with the lining up of the propane copper pipe which is why we used an adapter and flexible propane hose we got from Hime Depot. Otherwise the hole should fit almost exactly. We had to notch our hole out a bit as Shasta actually did a great job and had an aluminum frame around the hole to prevent water damage. We had to notch that… so, could be more than just an hour job lol

Thats fair. Yes wiring will be interesting. I know that the 120 can be put into an outlet or capped. As far as twelve volt I need a power and a ground? I assume I don’t the the switch wire anyone since there is no electric element .
@CalledToWander
@CalledToWander 2 ай бұрын
@@jamestrippca We capped the wire to the switch since it is no longer needed. The wiring diagram should show the grounds, etc. It's relatively straightforward and the remote wires in separately in the front (outside access) of the unit so it's not like you have to figure out 15 different wires. Hopefully it goes smoothly for you!
