I noticed Wranglerstar was the most popular when he was building stuff and just talking about what he finds meaningful in life. We sort of know what you are doing, but not so much about who you are, where you came from and why you want to build a farm. Camarata is doing stuff, breaking something and then fixing it. It's more of a simpler formula. Either of those is OK, and so is the occasional product shilling. The only channels that haven't worked out are the ones where they stop being humble, or they get prissy with their audience (which is probably really hard to stomach when someone is telling you which end of a cow is the front or whatever...) 😹

Hey Josh! Dad was a Master Plumber, and all three of his boys got to be Assistants as soon as we were big enough to lug a tool box or use a shovel. It seems like every job started out with digging an exceedingly fine hole and/or ditch, doing the job, then filling the ditch or hole back in! Nice to see that some things haven't changed!

You can buy some inexpensive tape that you bury with your pipe that is easily found with an inexpensive metal detector. The tape is also a bright color in the event you dig close to your water line you’ll hopefully see it. I know hindsight is easy but I’m new to your channel I’m enjoying it so far.

Awsome awsome. Future reference. They make a square access for your shut off. They use them for yard sprinkler systems. This would allow you to replace the valve if it ever gos bad because theres more room then a round access. May just need to make a extension to get down 3' Keep up great work

An easy way to have a handle in tight places like that is to take the handle off and make a new Circle Handle with holes. Then you can make a simple long tool that can get down in where you need with a T handle above the surface that you can easily use to turn your valve deep in the ground. We use this method in an industrial setting alot due to it's relative ease and also to prevent Insect and snake bites. we have a huge issue with scorpions and Black Widows living in these kind if underground access holes for valves and other instruments here in East Texas. we've even made the tool to turn the valves on short notice with just a stick of All Thread, a small metal plate, and some 1/4" nuts and bolts, only tool we used was a drill for the holes for the bolts. a similar tool is commonly called a Water Meter Key.

If you ever do any more in ground applications with water valve try a curb stop valve they work way better and you don't have to bend a ball valve handle. But whatever works for you just here to help.

can't use a curb stop for a water tank like this..it will drain the tank my friend...curb stop valve is $85 v/s $26 ball valve. The frost free mirafount tanks have a curb stop valve ...the ball valves will only be used for the tire water tanks

They make them without drain backs so they won't drain your tank. I do agree with the price difference they are a lot more expensive and your ball valve will be just fine. Anyway keep up the good work I love watching your videos!

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer If you turn the ball valve on its side so the lever is in a vertical orientation, and then adust the lever's mounting angle so it's at a 45 degree angle on its mounting bolt (===./.===) instead of a 90 degree one, then a straight rod down the hole and loosely bolted to the end of the lever will let you operate the valve. That way you won't need a special tool, you can just reach in and pull the rod up or down. Same idea as a gearstick coupled to the gearbox with a rod.

I see your bolling ball idea and it looks like it could work but I also noticed your drain pipe has a cap on it. Unless you take the cap off and leave it off the tank will not drain. That presents a problem of having a pipe with no cap that a calf can step into and brake a leg.

yep....it's not totally perfect yet.....the bowling ball idea will only work if I drill a few holes in the drain plug

@Stoney Ridge Farmer WOOOOOOO! Will that PVC pipe for the sensor function as an overflow/overpressure/vacuum breaker or do you have a separate plan for that?

I would have "Over-Engineered" this hole py lining the bottom and sides with Lanscape Fabric, placed about 4" of Pea Gravel, Placed the Tank (made Connections), then Backfill around the Tank with more Pea Gravel (leaving some excess Landscape fabric to cover the edges. Then add some River Rock on top of that to soil level...

the entire reason for the screenings is that rock won't work buddy....need something very gentle that's like sand...geotextile could have been used here...but wasn't neccesary...I've got some folks commenting that I should have poured it in concrete....shew...expensive...however...no rock! That's the entire reason for the screenings...pea gravel would have made this a giant french drain...in other words the whole pit would be full of water all the time

Josh, is there a small vent hole in the tank? As you fill the tank, air in the tank needs to escape, so as not to build too much pressure, allowing water to fill. You may need an air valve to to off and on, when the solar pump turns off and on.

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Josh, thanks for the response. I was sure you had it all covered. I was sitting there thinking. Over thinking actually. 😆
