This is still a "sport" for the rich who have a house with solar panels and money for a new car, what about people who cannot afford new cars and buy e.g. 10-year-old cars, like Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia, etc. Additionally, charging with electricity outside the home is more expensive than fuel.

It is never this simple in the UK. I wanted a charging point on my garage which is separate to the house. To run the cable they wanted a trench dug with twin-wall ducting under our front lawn, but wouldn't do the "ground work". Couldn't find anyone that wanted to do it. The energy supplier were going to upgrade my fuse to 3-phase (60s build) but after digging the hole to access the cables said they needed access to my neighbours' property. He wouldn't let them in. Some discussion of these challenges would have been useful. Making everything seem so painless helps no-one.

Took me hours on the one we had - so much info needed, pictures, video, special codes for meter, grounding wires on gas, water etc. Ohme.

ok so a big problem in the UK is a lot of houses dont have a driveway, there is a pavement between where the car is parked and the house, is there a charging solution for this? thanks

So, just how many homes in the UK have their very own nice & wide driveway? Taking into consideration UK homes are notably more cramped, smaller than an American counterpart...just where is this device suppose to be installed at an Apartment?, a condo?....and how well are those electrics going to stand up to the cold rain showering down, as it is NOT undercover & out of the elements. Let's not take into account the fellow who doesn't have, own, nor bother with a smartphone???

So, 100% ICE phase-outs are nice and all, but at least over in Canada there really isn't a solution in place for those of us who live in condos. I can't just decide I'm having a charger installed. And I'm sure as hell not selling this place just to move somewhere with a charger. At some point supporting regulation is going to have to get a move on or these mandates are going to be a joke.

Every time you charge about 10% of the energy is lost to heat in the cables / inverter. This is never spoken about. If your EV has a 70KWh battery it will take about 77KWh to charge. Its like spilling 10% of your petrol every time you fill up

Real world ratios are above 95% efficiency most of the time, depending on the car manufacturer and so on. It's true that some energy is lost to heat, but it's also true for example an internal combustion engine will waste over 90% of its energy to heat. However, did you know a petrol engine will waste 70- 80% of the gasoline to heat? That's like wasting 80% of your petrol every time you fill up. EVs are in their incipient phase, and efficiency will only grow over time in every respect.

This video really makes me appreciate July 4th 1776. BTW there are around 975,000 full EVs registered in the UK out of 32 million registered cars. That's 3%. You really think you'll sell only EVs in 2025. Good luck with that... 😂

The phase out kicks in from 2035 and applies to new cars only, an eminently achievable target, in fact, totally unambitious.

@@user-gf7bd4hm2t In the video she said 2025. 2035 is still unrealistic. EV resources are becoming scarce and there hasn't even been 10 percent adoption. It's becoming more obvious to the masses that EVs are not environmentally friendly. Keep drinking that greenwashed Kool Aid.
