How To Install Bilstein Coilovers on a BMW 3 series E90 E92

Today on we will be installing a set of Bilstein Coilovers on the BMW 328i. This installation was initially overwhelming and it was very time consuming, but with patience anyone can do this job at home!

Did the Bilstein not come with a strut bearing? It looked like there was one on there already and you still removed the one from the stock set up. Or was I seeing a completed Bilstein and an OE one side by side?

Unfortunately this was a friends car. He has since moved to Florida but I was able to talk with him and he mentioned that he is still happy with them but they are very stiff.

Did you guys have to trim the bumpstops at all? I just installed these on my e90 335i and even with them raised up all the way I feel like the car is really low and is bottoming out on the bump stops occasionally.

We did not have to trim it at all.

The bump stops in the front strut not go on the bilstein, they have an internal bump stop.

How did you set the ride height? What measurements in the front and the rear did you use?

We just measure the originals and dropped it by the amount he wanted. Then let it sit and adjust as needed.

Did you swap over any washers from oem setup. I’m stuck right here cause seems like it needs the washers.

Which washers are you talking about? Mostly we used all of the items from the kit. The only thing we found was that the rubber in the spring mount had to be removed.

@@JohnEngel there’s 2 washers on oem strut. A big one that’s flat 1 side and curved on other . And a smaller one. I put 1 washer ( smaller 1) over the bumpstop. Then the spring cup /perch , then the flat/black line washer then the top hat and nut … Something didn’t seem without washers. Also I didn’t have to compress the bilstein strut to put top hat on. It all sort just fell together.

So I got maxpeedingrods height adj Coilovers for my bmw E90 the rubber bushing doesn’t fit the spring in the rear

That’s a great question. As far as I know it did but the suspension was gone from years of use.

Why is the front coilovers yellow? I think because this are not inverted.

@@Ben-xp9ft Bilstein redesign the front strut. It use to be inverted and silver, looked like stainless steel but it wasn't.

Why do we keep treating our 335i n54's Like the Vw community.... 20's fit , don't rub ....run nitto I have konigs . 19's are too small , and twins are antiquated so bottom mount a garett single twin scroll or bw efr iron mani. If the new supra has a bmw engine then treat that 335 like a supra and stop living I'n the dark ages.

Is it a fucking secret to get the torque specs???? Like Jesus the file online is corrupted and nobody will actually put a strut back together. They just show it installed. No help at all.
