I’ve always been told to put the oil Hole at the 4 o’clock position so it creates an oil wedge I got that information from the Chevrolet race shop manuals 5:15

I have the expandable cam bearing installation too. What’s the best way to get #1 bearing in. I’ve ruined 2 bearing so far. Each bearing going in slightly crooked which prevents the cam from sliding in

Go from the rear 💯

@@superiorracingchannel3368 I tried that too. It wouldn’t even slide in. This is a little vortec v6. But it should be the same as the v8. I’ll try again tonight hopefully I can get it.

@SubePelayo928 you should not have any problems driving it in through the opposite direction. Make sure you have the cam bearing tool centered and the cone slid into the block to keep it centered

@@superiorracingchannel3368 I will give it another shot. I have another set coming in and a set for a vortex 350. Which the front bearings are the same

@@superiorracingchannel3368 attempted again, took my time. It looks perfectly square in the hole. Oil holes are in proper location 10/2 o clock. But stock cam won’t slide through. This is the first time I’ve had trouble with bearing. I’ve done a 350 and several LS using the same tool. Guess I’m going to have to call a shop tomorrow

We are a performance machine shop and do this for a living. Watch the video again, and you'll see I put lubriplate assembly grease on the bearings before installing the camshaft 👌

I've been using Lubriplate since High School 46 years ago. Some people have never seen or heard of it and only know the fancy stuff in the bottles that's a pretty color Red and smells cool . The only thing i do different is install the bearings at 9:00 or 3:00 not at 6:00 to give the bearing a stronger surface for the cam to ride on. Because at 6:00 all the pressure from valve springs etc. will be pushing the cam down on that hole causing premature wear and really on a 350 with the oil groove that goes all the way around there is not much to worry about and some bearings have more and different shapped holes than others. Myself I'm a Clevite 77 guy on all bearings. it's all good. Must be tough to post videos and know upfront every Tom, Dick and Harry is going to question your work.@@superiorracingchannel3368
