How to Install HIT Inserts into Arrows for Archery and Bow Hunting

This video provides a full tutorial on how to install hit inserts when building your own arrows. This technique is compatible with installing all HIT Inserts, including .204 ID and .166 inserts, and those compatible with Iron Will's Reinforced HIT System and Snyder Core System.

Make sure you are comfortable with this process before installing your HIT Inserts into your arrows. If this process is not followed, your inserts could adhere to the inside of your arrow shafts incorrectly which will make them unusable. I just became a die-hard fan of Iron wills single bevel broad heads.. You have to absolutly respect how sharp you can get these broad heads. Definetly recomend using there collars. Set em and forget em. Will be buying more. When are the skinning knives çoming back ? Thanks and cheers

Hands down THE BEST fit on arrows for these components Any other company you need to sand down 30-40% of carbon in order to make theirs fit on the arrows

is there a significant benefit to epoxying the insert in separately, then screwing in the broadhead? This as oppossed to screwing them both together outside the shaft and glue as a single, strong unit into the shaft with hot melt. More glue surface area = less chance of a pullout and less movement at impact that could initiate a bend or break in the system. Or would epoxying the whole system in place be better? I have arrows dedicated to hunting so swapping out for field tips is not a concern

also had one more question on build that Ill throw in here. Do you or can you epoxy the outer reinforcing sleeve in place and still remove the tip either through use of hot melt or a screw in / epoxied hit insert? I see them slid over the shaft, but not glued in place.

any trouble with epoxy build up between the hit and end of shaft on the inside?

Our HIT Installation Tool takes care of that. It's engineered to scrape any excess epoxy so it clears space for the broadhead or field point to be screwed in.

Hi I'm wanting to buy the impact collars for my Hunting Arrows but not sure of the size to order ? My Arrows are the carbon exspress 250 400 spine they already have have been cut to length and have the inserts glued in do you know the diameter I need or is it possible to do now ? I have the Iron will 125 w/ bleeders ?

Hey Martin, please email our tech support at cs@ironwilloutfitters.com or call them at 970-236-4884. We have a few other questions about your arrows that can help us narrow down exactly what size of Impact Collar they would need. Once we narrow down exactly what arrow it is, we can look up your arrow's outer diameter, which would tell us the size of collar to get.

Wish I wasn't a dumba**, I stood them up for some odd reason, did them late at night next morning I woke up to 3 out of my 6 arrows I did completely ruined lol the inserts slid all the way down to the tip do not, I repeat do not make the same mistake I did, just placed another order of inserts and collars and have another 6 easton axis's on the way as well. Anyone know any tricks of removing inserts that are epoxied in lol or are they trash

It's a year later, but just heat them up and use a drill bit to knock them out. Ranch Fairy has a video on it. I just did it, and it worked like a charm.
