I learned a lot from this vid, including the tack time for the epoxy and removing the nock prior to installing inserts due to pressure. GREAT points!

I've been using HIT inserts for years without issues. I've never done all the steps this video is showing. I just cut, square, clean and glue them. Lay them flat for 24 hours and let them fly.

Yeah me either, however his tedious process can alleviate some issues with spin testing after the build. It was informative and maybe not 'required' on 90% of your arrow builds but very thorough.

You could probably made even harder and more complicated if you tried, I just don't know how

I found this relaxing. Can you do one for gold tip xt with brass?

I use Easton now but got tips are better specially when it comes to inserting different weights. They use a long tool to change them out whenever you want. Easton its a done deal once its glued in.

I must have missed it, but what kind of thinner are you using to clean the epoxy?

Yeah i love waiting for an hour tip! They will never move even if the arrows are bumped due to the epoxy being much more firm when starting.

Right. HIT is the worst insert system ever. Things are even worse with full metal jacket. Most of the 5 mm shafts sold by other companies come with half out inserts as stock. I will never buy easton axis if they don't sell halfout as stock insert. Money doesn't come from tree.

@@greenhoodedvigilante458 well said, the HIT system is just a failed engineering at its best, huge pain in the ass to use while providing minimum advantage.

The insert is permanently bonded to the arrow, so no way to align a broadhead with your fletchings. Why not use cold glue and install with broadhead mounted to the insert so you can align, and also remove with a heat gun if you need to change the broadhead?

What’s the advantages of this system??
@LancasterArcherySupply
@LancasterArcherySupply 9 ай бұрын
The main advantage is it better aligns the shaft of a broadhead with the inner diameter of the arrow as opposed to a typical insert, which might possibly be slightly out of sync with the inside of the shaft.

Why not just put field points or broadheads in the hit insert and then glue them in? Then they will not move and it will be in the correct location for future use.?
@LancasterArcherySupply
@LancasterArcherySupply 3 жыл бұрын
Chaz Atkinson Because when you insert into the shaft, the epoxy squeezes up beyond the insert and so you would be glueing that point or broadhead in place permanently

Best to just use a field point screwed into the insert when epoxying it in place instead of fumbling with the tool and trying to clean in front of it etc. You don’t have to worry about anything. Just unscrew the field point after everything sets up and your good to go. You’re welcome.
@LancasterArcherySupply
@LancasterArcherySupply Жыл бұрын
That is one way to do it. But if the epoxy inside the shaft isn't neat..if you have some spill over the top of the insert, or cling to the sides of the shaft above the insert.... then we have seen people not be able to remove the field point. They essentially glued it in place.
@greenhoodedvigilante458

Worst insert system ever. Specially with full metal jacket arrows. Just use aftermarket half out insert or buy arrows that comes with half out inserts as stock.

@LancasterArcherySupply

Before the glue dries, you put in a broadhead and spin the head and insert so the blades align with your fletchings.

This is a ridiculous, proprietary, contraptive, set-up. Gimmick, contraption are words that come to mind. The guys at the US government who make gas can designs must be moonlighting at Easton. What a joke man.
