Also wondering if anyone else struggled with screw on downrod to remove hanger ball. I had to have Home Depot loosen the screw on both fans that were purchased 😮😮. They weren't as easy to unscrew with the philliphead as shown...even Home Depot couldn't lossen. I was told there was a special tool they used so it would strip. Happy they could do it so I can finish this project 😄

Really helpful video, thanks. Wondering how it works with a wall switch - can the fan/light be connected to a (regular on/off) wall switch and what happens when you turn on the wall switch(es) (assuming it works) - is there a default mode, or does it remember the last setting used? Thanks again.
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 3 жыл бұрын
We would not recommend using this fan with a wall switch. The remote receiver has a memory to remember the light color temperature settings and if connected to a wall switch, the light color temperature will be changed each time the switch is turned off/on. Also, the fan will not be able to communicate with the App or Google/Alexa devices if the wall switch is turned off. For optimal performance, this fan should be wired as directed in the video.

Not currently. To reverse the fan, slide the motor collar cover up the downrod. The reverse switch is located on the black switch housing under the motor collar. You can see the reverse switch at the 6:19 mark. It's on the left hand side of the cylindrical black switch housing. Obviously, the fan needs to be off before switching the position of the switch.

Hi there! Thank you for this video! We bought these ceiling fans for our entire home. We forgot to program the frequencies so one control is turning on and off the rest of the fans upstairs 😅 I’m assuming that we wouldn’t have to take down the entire ceiling fan? And we can simply remove the canopy to program it? I appreciate in advance any response/responses.
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yes, that is correct, you can just remove the canopy to access the receiver to change the dip switches. Please make sure the power is turned off at the wall switch or beaker box before working on the fan.

We got all the way to the 12:14 mark and the screws weren't long enough to reach the holes on the canopy top? We don't know how to fix this and we've tried.
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 3 жыл бұрын
The canopy and decorative bottom ring come pre-assembled on the mounting bracket to ensure that the screws are long enough. Make sure the alignment post of the mounting bracket (shown at the 3:56 mark) is coming through the hole in the bottom of the canopy and make sure that no wires are stopping the canopy from going all the way up. You may need to loosen the screws on the bottom of the mounting bracket some more to give a bit more length than when you removed the mounting bracket. Hope this helps!

@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 Жыл бұрын
In general, remote control fans are not compatible with a 2-switch setup. The only switch option for this fan would be a standard on/off switch. We would suggest not using the switches and just use the remote and connect the fan as instructed in the video and then just cap off the red ceiling wire.

I live in a brand new house in California where the wires coming from my house are Copper Black White Red And I have a dimmable switch is the fan compatible with my house ? @ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 2 жыл бұрын
The only switch option would be a standard on/off toggle switch. In general, remote control fans should not be installed with any switch that regulates power like a dimmer or speed control switch. We are not licensed electricians, but if this were our installation, we would not use any switches and just wire the receiver directly to the house constant supply wire (black). That way the fan would always have power to be able to use the smart features.

I have a led ceiling fan with wifi but after connecting I can't change the settings. The ceiling fan used to have separate wall switch to turn the fan function on and one for the light on the ceiling fan. Now after installing the new fan, the fan and light are working through one switch. IDK what to do
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 Жыл бұрын
Do you have this fan, or just a different LED/Wifi fan? In general, if using Wifi, the fan will need to have a receiver installed and remote receivers can only be wired to one switch. If installed with a switch, the switch must be a standard on/off toggle switch. We don't recommend using a switch with this fan because if the switch is turned off, the fan will be disconnected from the home WiFi and the smart features like app or voice control won't be available.

@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 2 жыл бұрын
Couple of questions: Is the receiver wired to a wall switch? (if so, is it a standard on/off switch or a fan control switch). Did you double check that the wires from the house to the receiver are completely connected and the plug from the receiver to the fan is completely connected? (sometimes the wires may disconnect during the installation when the wires are moved around/tucked into the mounting bracket). We would also suggest making sure that the reverse switch is fully in one of the two positions - if it is not, the fan will not operate. The reverse switch is located under the motor collar cover on the top of the fan.

Cool! I’m considering this fan. How’s its high speed performance? A lot of fans nowadays don’t move much air at high speed.
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 2 жыл бұрын
It moved plenty of air for us. The important thing is having the right fan for the right space. Some people install fans designed for large or great rooms into small areas not realizing that the fan's performance can be negatively impacted. The think that the larger the fan, the better, but installing a large fan in a small space actually produces less airflow because there is less air to circulate and the airflow actually fights itself.

This fan does not have a flush mount option and can not be installed without a downrod. For an 8 ft ceiling, we would recommend a hugger style fan or a tri-mount fan (tri-mount fans include a flush-mount option).

Great video but small mistake at 7:52 - According to the setup instructions from Hampton - The screw is a 'set screw' and must go into the hole at the top of the down rod.
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 21 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. While the screw may thread into an optional extension downrod, the screw for this particular downrod does not and is more of a tension screw to hold the ball in place. If the screw ever comes out, the ball will still be held by the redundant safety bar that goes through the downrod.

Help. I bought the wall plate for the fan and it came with a receiver itself. We installed that receiver for the receiver that came with the fan. Now the remote and wall plate works but no wi-fi access. Can you have a wall plate and wi-fi control and the remote? All 3?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. The receiver that is included with the fan is the piece needed for the smart connectivity. The fan can not be installed with more than one receiver and if the receiver is replaced, the smart features will be lost. We do not recommend any alternate controls for this fan due to the smart features and the color temperature changing light kit. The included remote is the only way to consistently cnotrol the light's color temperature.

@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 8 ай бұрын
We wouldn't recommend this fan for use on an 8ft ceiling. In general, ceiling fans are required to have at least 7ft of clearance between the floor and blades. When installed, the blades would be lower than the required 7ft. For an 8ft ceiling, we would recommend a hugger style fan.

I followed your video , and installed it but it is wobbling, what could be the reason ?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 7 күн бұрын
A few reasons for wobble would be: 1. loose blades - make sure all blades are completely tightened. 2. Improperly seated ball in the mounting bracket - make sure ball is seated so that the slot of the ball is seated on the tab in the mounting bracket (see the 7:58 mark). Loose downrod / fan connection. - make sure the downrod is screwed into the motor collar completely and that the set screw is completely tightened. Another reason for wobble could be a loose outlet box.

@motuv
@motuv 2 жыл бұрын
Paul, also remember that anytime your blades are closer than 10 inches to the ceiling, you are killing the airflow and efficiency of the fan. Not only will there be struggles for airflow, the fan will be working against pressure, which will greatly shorten its lifespan. Learned that the hard way!

@ceilingfans101 2 ай бұрын
For this particular fan, we would suggest just capping off the red house wire. Typically, the house red wire is a switch wire. If the red wire is connected to a standard on/off switch, you could connect the receiver's power wire to the red house wire. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off using the switch. Please note that if connected to a switch, the light's color temperature may change if the switch is turned off/on too quickly (within 4 seconds).

We'd suggest making sure that all of the wire connections are completely plugged in/connected. Especially where the light connects to the fan. If that doesn't fix the issue, call Hampton Bay customer service. Their team is pretty good at troubleshoting.

The fan won't be available for a while. Keep an eye out for it around mid to late April/beginning of May.

If airflow is desired in the opposite direction, turn your fan off and wait for the blades to stop turning, then slide the reversing switch (located underneath the motor collar cover on the switch box on top of the motor housing) to the opposite position, and turn the fan on again. The fan blades will turn in the opposite direction and reverse airflow. Warm weather - (Forward) A downward airflow creates a cooling effect. This allows you to set your air conditioner on a higher setting without affecting your comfort. Cool weather - (Reverse) An upward airflow moves warm air off of the ceiling. This allows you to set your heating unit on a lower setting without affecting your comfort.

We'd suggest making sure that the wiring is still connected correctly and did no disconnect during the installation.
