Sweet Frederique, love your channel and your beautiful aura. I have big breasts and a normal build and I struggle. Tops just dont fit nicely and if I buy too big then it makes me look larger than what I am. Any tips?

Sweet Frederique Bros I feel especially special when I’ve spent time doing something I enjoy, especially for my loved ones. Perhaps sewing a quilt for one of my amazing grandchildren. Then dressing to run errands. It doesn’t take a lot for me to feel amazing as I find the feeling comes from inside. I dress simply, classic, & feminine. I’m retired and enjoy my life. If I had advice for a young person, I’d recommend keeping life simple but not overbuying, and care for your skin. Simple soap and a light lotion will provide a simple regimen. After all. DNA Is ‘the boss.’

My best tip comes from my Father, who was a professional artist and photographer. Wear clothes that fit. Fit is essential. Forget the numbers; wear what best fits you..For the lines of a dress to move and flow correctly, for it to hang gracefully, to be most comfortable, it must fit correctly. Wearing a size too small for your body will not make you look smaller. It will accentuate every bump and flub, making you appear larger. Employ a seamstress to perfect the fit.

I am 70 in a couple of weeks (still 25 in my head!) My own idea about dressing well is to be elegant and chic by wearing good quality classics, which do not need to be expensive - such good vintage shops and auction sites available for these. I take note of current trends, and some can be incorporated into my way of dressing - a nod to fashion, which gives a modern look without looking out of place as an older lady. Keep a modern hairstyle, nothing more ageing than a helmet type style held in place with pots of hair spray! I wear great wigs, so I can frequently change my style, they are so good these days that nobody would guess its not my hair. Look after your nails, wear good shoes and natural look make up - essential! Best of all, smile! It instantly lifts the face and makes one look younger!

I am in my mid 70s, and totally agree with everything you say, as I do,the same, still have my long hair, no longer dark brown now, more blonde/white now(dyed), was recently thinking of getting a bit cut off it but think now I will just keep it, as I can put it up or down, still can’t believe the age I am, I practice Yoga 5 days a week, the other ladies are in there 50s so I just think I am the same age as them lol 😆

I'm 74 and still working (moderating arts and history at our states museums) and I'm a fine artist, too. Since 3 years I wear my natural white hair color with a bob (transitioned from a brown pixie), so I changed my late hippy style to a classic one, neutral colors etc, and I never got so many compliments as now. All the changes were worth it.

I signed up for the styling course since so I can finally learn to dress my 5 ft 1 inch hourglass frame. I gave away 80% of my clothes to charity yesterday and feel fantastic! I’ve learned more from these videos in a month than I ever knew before about dressing well and feeling confident. Please keep posting! I am shopping for new clothes, shoes, everything. My tip for always looking stylish and put together is to have a ‘uniform’ - I know what styles of tops, pants, jackets etc. flatter me, and I have them in various colours and sleeve lengths for different seasons. Also, I buy jewelry, scarves, etc. from a charitable organization that pays women in the developing world a fair wage for their work, then sells it in the developed world to raise funds. I’m doing some good with my fashion budget, and I always look totally unique. This probably wouldn’t work for someone who really cared about fashion, and/or loved to shop, but it works for me!🙂

You are so right about perfume: I have worn “Opium” for a very long time. My grand daughters love it! One day I was going up the stairs and a coworker was behind me and she said she loved my perfume and when I told her, she stopped shocked as she was wearing the same: did not smell the same at all. Different phd of skin.

During covid I was on the phone with a girlfriend (both 72) when simultaneously I got a call from the owner of my cosmetics store saying she would deliver my makeup to my mailbox on her way home. This was very kind of her. My friend on the other phone overheard the conversation and said don’t tell me you are still purchasing expensive makeup like that. I thought you are darn right I am. I use that makeup daily. I don’t overdo it but I’m trying to look presentable even if I’m staying home. This friend was a fashionista in her early days. She hasn’t thrown the towel in completely but I was somewhat surprised. My mother was always groomed and so was hers. I do care to make a decent appearance.

I love the idea mutual kindness and support among fellow women, not competition. Unfortunately, I was raised in a time and place where we automatically looked at other women and did a kind of mental, critical analysis and makeover of everything from their figures, hair and makeup to clothing. Teenagers were especially cruel, picking apart everyone’s perceived “flaws”. Sometimes we even talked about our criticisms to others, how nasty. I’ve tried to fight this mindset all my life, with some success. Life is not a beauty contest, even if we were raised to believe that it is, and we were. I believe that this thinking originated in the times when getting the “right kind” (i.e. with wealth and status) of husband was considered the most important thing in life for women, but it isn’t.
@nadab4750
@nadab4750 2 жыл бұрын
Yes Kimberley. I call-out women being jealous or bitchy. I just say "I don't feel the need to compare or compete". Sometimes women do this to try to bond with you, thinking (because you take care of yourself) that you will agree and join in when they put other women down. 👱‍♀️❤
@kimberlyberlin4999
@kimberlyberlin4999 2 жыл бұрын
I was raised by a very critical mother. She tore everyone apart from her own insecurity. I remember watching the Miss America Pageant with her as a young girl. She found something wrong with each contestant, sometimes multiple things. When I look back I realize how that shaped me. I too fight against this mindset all the time. I've gotten much better but still catch myself being judgmental. Thinking and speaking kindly to ourselves and to others is so important.

(Ojo, No generalizo)Somos únicas!

"Try to pay yourself a compliment." 😊 I love this! I have not thought about it this specifically before. I have heard people say to look in the mirror and say something nice like "hello beautiful!" But what a great way to sharply focus on those good feelings, to find something specific to compliment yourself about, rather than harping on the specific details of what we don't like. This is so valuable! 😊🙏 Thank you for using these specific words. Also, you look wonderful! 😃🤩 Thank you for continuing to radiate and inspire.

Frédérique you know I love all your videos! I wanted to share something with you and your viewers. I have this exercise that I learned once at a training (I didn’t make it up). It’s for learning self esteem. Each person works with a partner. You tell her a compliment. She has to listen, look in your eyes, say thank you, pause, and then say “It’s true.” This is really hard. Then you switch. Anyway, I did this with a patient the other day and guess what compliment she gave me? “Vivian, you have such a great sense of style!!” I said “thank you! It’s true!” And I immediately thought of my style icon Frédérique and to share this here!

My best tip for feeling fantastic is not to worry about what other people think, be happy for other people (their success does not take away from yours) and smile. Confidence and inner contentment shines through and is very attractive. Or just do what I do, wear bright colours, statement accessories, and a giant fur coat😂

I am 57 but i have such a good response when i go out. I only buy items for my wardrobe wich Can mix an match, and did that for 30 yrs now. No buying mistakes, i know what fits me and wich colors to wear. I am a designer, and personal stylist and Color consultant, wich really Viva me great pleasure when i can help others to find their personal style. I live in Scandinavia and our skin is very fair wich makes Black steal all the lige dåfrom us if we dont put on colored scarf , turtleneck and shirts wich match our own colors and skintype - hair, eyes and skin. It id really all about knowing the skincolor you have warm or cold, then you always Can find items wich shows the best items for you . Look at the Palm of your hand, compare it to your girlfriend. You Will then very fast se what the diffrence between. Pink/White = cold undertones in the skin or Yellow/Golden =Warm undertones in your skin . That Will help you to find the colors wich compliments your eyes and hair too. One Golden rule is, the eyecolor you have is for sure always the Color clothes wich Will make you look stunning. And remember there is a diffrence if the Color comes there with you or people see you as a person because you made the fantastic Color choise wich makes you glow and be seen

😄I saw another lady's comment ( Stephanie Evans) and I couldn't help laughing, because that's exactly how I feel (45 but 25 in my head). I get told so many times I look much much younger, and I'm grateful for such lovely complements. ANY way...HELLO Girl nice to see you again!🤩 Ok what makes me feel fantastic...Silent Confidence, projected by being humble and friendly. That is very important to me and I teach my twin girls exactly that! O wish I was still 20 just to wear those tight mini dresses again. I still love and wear my jeans, slim fit or bootleg, just the way I have always liked it. And I am so sorry, if I dissapoint you know, but when I was a teen and even in my 20s I was so in love with my "Doc Martin boots" (those "millitary style" boots) that I wore them with a dress, jeans, skirt, my shorts, my jump suits, anything BUT my bikini okay😂 So, the moment that I saw those boots back in fashion, I just couldn't resist and I bought a black pair once again, and Girl I wear them PROUD, well not with everything in my wardrobe anymore because I am older now, but I still wear them with a skirt, my jeans sometimes and with my boho chic pants🤫🤭yes, I know 🙈but it doesn't look weird or stupid, I will never leave my house looking like a clown, promise😏 Thank you again for another great video Frederique! Wow! You do look super chic Frederique! Great video! My advice for us more mature ladies is to keep interested. So many over 60ies think its crazy to still be interested in clothes, looks, style. No its not. Its a matter of self respect. Keep yourself looking the best you can be. We don't all have pots of money to spend but even on a budget we can save for that classic item of clothing, we can take care of ourselves, be kind to ourselves, put a smile on our face and step out with confidence. xxx

Good to see that you practice what you preach, Frederique! Communicating with such energy and elan. Yes you are right about the value of 'neutrals' in our clothing combinations, and about expressing individuality in our clothes - while remaining , of course, appropriate to lifestyle and occasion. This should all help us reach that holy grail - elegance!

Yes, a black jacket...the blackest you can find! The blacker the fabric is, it will match easier with other black garments in your wardrobe. Cheap 100% polyester fabric is never really black, having an unappealing light reflecting shimmer. Seams never sit flat with polyester either, ironing makes it worse by making the fabric shiny. Look for winter weight, or fine summer weight wool "suiting". Quailty black velvet for cool weather dressy days and evenings also. Stylish gold jewellery completes the look. A lint brush will be your friend. 👱‍♀️❤

Hi Frederique! You look fabulous as always. Terrific advice to be kind to ourselves and others. If I notice someone took extra care to look their best…I always complement them. If I get a complement it means the world to me. Growing older isn’t always easy….it doesn’t take much to tell someone something nice. It could make their day!!! Hugs to Oscar. Best to you always. lol xxx

My tip for looking and feeling great is to add a scarf to the outfit somewhere. If nothing else, it covers my aging neck! But I do love the creativity a scarf allows, and a jolt of color it gives to my neutrals, which is all I usually wear now.

The problem with living in southern california near the beach is that no one ever dresses up. It's shorts and tees or athleisure wear all year and all day and night. Even the nicer restaurants you see women in such casual clothes. I always feel overdressed if I make an effort. I love stylish clothes.

I also live in Southern California near the ocean. Yes tee shirts and sandals are our uniform. I usually feel over dressed if I wear something else. Of course pandemic hasn’t helped.

Set the standard...don't let the local 'standard' dictate to you what you think you should be wearing. For some people being casual makes them feel comfortable and for others being dressed up makes them feel more comfortable within themselves. .KZfaq's Sassy Grandma Doris (96) and her glamourous daughter (75) are just outside of LA; they don't "do casual", even for a meal at a diner. 👱‍♀️❤

Hi I am facing a lot of issues at the moment and finding it very hard to make decisions. I have so many cloths sitting there, and I mean many. Cute little necklace, Frederique!! I always put perfume on - Coco Madamoiselle - woke up from surgery once to the doctor asking what I was wearing because the staff had loved it. My winner this week - finally found that "heavier" day jumper in cotton (cannot wear wool). It has been on my "need" list for two years. Difficult for me as I am a petite five foot tall and 106lbs and it is easy to look like a little box on legs! Once I realised it was a winner, I went straight back to the shop and bought it again in a second colour.

Thank you, Frederique! Great video again. For me, I feel happier with myself if my skin and hair are healthy. No matter what I'm wearing, if I feel my skin and hair look good, I feel better. I also, as you often say, think knowing what suits me helps me to choose clothes that I feel good in. It also saves me money because I make fewer mistakes when I am shopping. And, being kind and pleasant to people we meet, is one of the most stylish looks we can wear.

I enjoy picking out what to wear and even though I am retired, I still like to look stylish! I play Pickleball, a racquet sport, and have several little dresses and shorter leggings in fun colours, instead of thirst and shorts for wearing in the summer when we play outside.
