I’m 5’4” and eat 1600 calories but I weight train 4x a week. I’m eating more calories and losing more weight than I did eating at 1200 calories. Don’t eat 1200 or you’ll end up binging and going up and down. It’s miserable I did this for years.

I'm 4'9 and used to weigh about 105 pounds, ate whatever I wanted, sometimes up to 2000-3000 calories. My tummy was definitely chubby and I felt swollen a lot of the time. After losing 10 pounds over one year and getting some muscle definition, I look like a totally new person. Unfortunately I can only eat about 1580 to maintain assuming I'm working out 3-5 days a week. It's so hard because I'm a foodie and love to eat too. I wish I was taller to be honest

Try doing reverse dieting for 6-12 months, while weight training, you can increase your calorie intake by 1000 cal easily in one year, then you'll have more room to play with and drop more weight if you want to, and you can eat more too🙂 if you don't know what exactly reverse dieting is, do your research, make sure you understand it completely and avoid the common mistakes...you'll thank yourself for doing it🙂

@@FitFoodieNutritionist this wan't work... Why you think people give kids 'kids' portions? Because small body needs less food! In addition kids are growing so they use calories for growth and adults don't. 4'9 it's like 10-12 year old kid. Two girls that are in my family are 12 and already 5'3!!! Geeeeezzzzz

@@baassiia Reverse dieting does work!! 100%!! although there is always an upper limit on the calorie intake for individuals, but RD can help to get close to that upper limit. I am 5.2 and I weigh 105 lbs, I eat around 2000 calories to maintain now!! 4 years ago, I was maintaining at 1200 after an unhealthy weight loss!! I am the same person, same genetics, and am even older now, but I eat more and weigh around the same!! it's all about doing it correctly :)

@@FitFoodieNutritionist even if your maintenance is indeed 2000lcal you havn't mentioned your daily activity level, so again this is BS. I work from home, very little movements during work week. I won't be able to sustain high activity level long term, I know that - it never worked in the past actually. People have to adjsut to their actual life, family, work and so on, not to dream life. Alexa is 4'9 and you are 5'2 again it's not the same. She already wrote that she exercise 3-5 times a week, so you want her to train more? Bit toxic

Thank you so much Eric, I learned so much from this video. As a 5'2'' female with PCOS I get so frustrated with trying to lose weight because it feels like my biology is just working against me. I've watched a handful of your videos now and you are by far the most straight forward and genuine person, and you really help encourage people like me to see weight loss as obtainable and sustainable goal. You helped me realize that to lose weight it's not just always about working harder, it's about being smarter and all these other things I never even considered have a much greater impact than you would think.

(i’m 5’4, 20 yrs old) during quarantine, i went from 115 to 140. now i’m at 125, still looking to lose about 5-7 pounds. 100% my entire lifestyle changed. i had never been 140 before, but i also had never had chik fil a everyday or ate a pint of ice cream a day before. now, i’m back to eating more home cooked meals (and no fast food), going on walks, and eating ice cream as a treat maybe twice a week (sometimes more, but i definitely am not eating a pint a day 🤭). also, counting calories in the beginning was very much needed. cuz even tho i thought i was eating healthy then, i was still eating too much. now i’m off calorie counting and can estimate a good amount to eat. i also used to lift weights all the time pre-covid, so i’m super excited to do that again once i’m back at school in 2 weeks. overall, i feel way healthier than i was at 140! healthy habits build up, and you’ll never want to stop doing them once you’ve got it established

firstly, i want to thank you for making such an informative video! i know this was posted quite some time ago, but i wanted to see if anyone had any advice-- will our BMR change or become lower if we have a history of restricting and overeating? i used to struggle with restriction and compensated for it by increasing my caloric intake, but i'm not sure if it impacted by metabolism or slowed it down. if this has an impact on my BMR, how will i know if the numbers are accurate so that i can eat in a more reasonable deficit? i apologize if this doesn't make sense, i can always consult google but i figured i would ask here as well. again, thank you for sharing this info in such a concise way!

Thank you very much for the video. All of these formulas for calculating BMR, TDEE as well as fat calculator, etc. may not be as accurate as what you look like. For example when I started weight training 4 1/2 years ago I was 165 pounds and had an In Body evaluation. He gave me a bunch of numbers. About two years later I had another in body test where my weight was actually higher at 167, but my body fat % was about the same, slightly more skeletal mass, but I know I was looking more lean. My subsequent weight training sessions have been very successful in gaining muscle and of course gaining more fat.. my weight shot up to 177 and thanks to your videos and others on KZfaq, I’ve successfully lost 7 pounds in the last five weeks-so my question is is the TDEE at this point in time reliable, is BMR reliable now? body fat calculators wouldnt be accurate I guess?
